You might have heard this term before, but if you haven’t, you may be asking what is Dopamine dressing? It is a trend that came from the pandemic when we were all feeling blah, and oftentimes wearing blah outfits.

Have you ever seen someone wearing an outfit that just makes you smile?

This might be because of dopamine dressing before it was a trend.

The term refers to dressing in a way that injects joy into your wardrobe. This is done by bold colours, clashing colours and patterns, and crazy prints.

And sometimes all those concepts at once depending on how adventurous you want to be.

This might be a big trend to attempt to jump into headfirst, but bringing these elements into your wardrobe can give you a bit of dopamine boosting power.

Which is something that we all could benefit from.

It is said that wearing bright colours can actually give a boost to the appearance of your skin. This results in you both looking and feeling younger.

And who wouldn’t want that?

When we are trying to figure out how to dress using the dopamine dressing concepts, what we first have to keep in mind is that we are dressing with the intention of boosting our mood.

This means getting out of your comfort zone when deciding what to wear, and that alone can trigger a dopamine release.

I went through and picked a variety of pieces so that we can get a good collection of versatile summer clothes for women.

I also made sure to include pieces that can be paired into less bold combinations because honestly, some days you just aren’t feeling it and want to dress a little more mellow or neutral.

I always include a variety of trousers because I find them comfortable and cool in the summer if you pick the right fit and fabrics.

Everlane has some new summer trousers that are made from linen/organic cotton, and tencel.

They made a version of their popular Way High Trousers (I have two pairs because I love them) into linen which is fabulous.

I also inserted a lot of shoes and accessories in bold colours because when you are stuck in your comfort zone and scared to emerge, sometimes it is easier to take baby steps.

Maybe slip into a bright shoe, or grab a vibrant handbag.

Those small parts can change the whole vibe of an outfit, and you may be surprised how cool and confident you feel just by making these small changes.

Oftentimes when we think of summer clothes for women we think of t-shirts and shorts, which is comfortable but can be a bit boring.

Because, let’s be honest, summer is not the most exciting time to dress.

By choosing your summer pieces with intention we can build truly fun summer outfits.

Give yourself a dose of dopamine and stay safe.
