10 Easy Summer Outfits for Different Styles

Have you honed in on your fashion style, or do you like to jump around changing things up depending on your mood? I tend to change it up, although I do have key pieces that I consider wardrobe staples, and help me to define my style.

If you stick to what you love you can’t go wrong no matter what you wear.

While it only officially became summer this week, we tend to go from early spring into intense heat within a few short weeks. There is only a short window of perfect weather.

It’s been a bit cooler for the last few days though so I have been practising my transition to fall outfits.

Shopping for summer clothing can be daunting, especially after the last 18 months.

Lots of people are looking for loose, breezy, and elastic waists because we have grown so used to comfort clothes, and may or may not be a little heavier than we were before the shit hit the fan.

There were two types of people in lockdown: Those who spent their time working on their bodies, mind, and spirit…and those of us that are still so very tired in body, mind, and spirit.

Can you guess which side I fall on? 😉

Because of our newfound love for comfortable clothing, I have tried to include many pieces that will check those boxes.

As for more of the daunting part, summer outfits are usually so simple that you may feel like you are always too casual looking and underdressed for an occasion.

Since it is way too hot to wear layering pieces (unless you will be in air conditioning or it is the evening when it cools), then your typical summer outfit formula will feel pretty basic.

It will generally look pretty basic too if I am being honest.

There are only so many ways you can wear shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses…BUT if you start to introduce some fun shoes and accessories, it will bring to life any outfit that you wear.

Hopping back to style for a minute. Your style personality might be clearly defined. You know what you like, and you have spent time carefully curating your wardrobe or capsule wardrobe to reflect that.

If it is not clearly defined or you are unsure, don’t worry about it. Your style will go through changes ranging from big to small over the years but over time you will begin to recognize what you like and don’t and your wardrobe will start to reflect that.

Summer weather and summer dressing will differ where you live, but I have put together 10 easy summer outfits that are fun and show many different styles and occasions to wear them.

The Easy Night Out Looks

I am partial to wearing black. It just always works in a pinch, but it makes things so much easier when you are trying to dress up a bit. For these going out outfits I started with a staple of a simple black jumpsuit, and a black dress.

Both of which are wardrobe staples that are easy to wear and can be worn in many different ways. Slipping an oversize tee over the jumpsuit not under gives it a whole different vibe. Then pairing it with some mules, and a great collar necklace in a bold colour just ties it all together.

Nothing is more simple than throwing a blazer over it. Push up the sleeves, slide on some sneakers, and earrings and you have a fabulous yet comfortable girls night out look.

These clutches are the same bag in contrasting colours. I have also included in blue below.

The Minimalist Outfit in Warm and Cool Tones

Although there are only 4 seasons, when you are discussing the seasons when it pertains to fashion there becomes 12 versions. It’s pretty complex and a lot of overlap. I find myself right on the line of Light Spring and Light Summer.

I tend to look better in warm tones but I have certain traits that fall in the cool category (my eyes are like the dark grey-blue of a stormy ocean).

This means that I can easily wear some colours in both the warm and cool category. In all honesty, I don’t really take that into consideration when I buy things, but there are definitely colours that make me look much better than others so I should probably pay attention to that more.

All in all, people are divided into either the warm or cool category and these are some minimalist style outfits that reflect both of these.

The Summer Boho Look

Both of these outfits are a different version of the same look. One is boho casual, and the other boho dressy. I am not partial to thin straps so I tend to layer tees under my sundresses.

Slip on some simple sandals, and pull your hair back in a claw clip and you are good to go.

As for the dressier side we go with an oversized shirt worn over flare legged jeans in a light wash (very summer 2021) simple gold hoops, kitten heels, and a statement bag and bracelet.

I’m really feeling the oversized shirt over jean trend this summer as well. You can see me wearing it here, and here.

The Maximalist, and the Minimalist on a Budget Look

Embrace you inner maximilist and start print mixing. You don’t have to go all out, start small. Even stay in the same family of colours if you want something more subtle.

I decided to go bolder with this look by adding a removable collar to a shirt that doesn’t have a collar, and some accessories in contrasting colours that will work.

The outfit on the right is the budget outfit in the group although many of the other pieces are inexpesive as well. I decided to keep the minamilist summer vibe going with this one but added added blue.

Minimalism doesn’t always mean neutral colours.

The Preppy with a Twist and Saturday Errands Outfits

Love a good preppy stripe and linen pant combo? How about make it bolder with a bright stripe, statement earrings, and an edgy sandal.

This Saturday errand look is sporty with an edge and it is something that I wear frequently. I love a good band tee and since Nirvana is my favourite band I figured it was a great choice. Pair it with some track pants in a great colour, sneakers, a bum bag worn across your chest, and tie a scarf on your head.

Don’t forget the tote for your errands. I have a collection of totes in fun prints.

If you don’t know what to wear this summer or are bored of the same old things, try to change it up a bit. Add a twist to your current style with some bold fun pieces.

It’s amazing how a simple thing like a statement necklace will comletely change the look of an outfit. I am tryinmg to up my jewleery and accessory game so I can breathe some life into some old looks.

I hope this gave you some summer wardrobe inspiration.

Stay safe.
