8 Spring Outfits Transition to Summer

This post is a continuation of last weeks 5 Spring Outfits That Transition to Summer. I had too many ideas to post into one post so I broke it into two.

You wouldn’t know that it was spring based on the weather this week. We woke up to snow twice.

I hope that it doesn’t damage the flowers that were starting to show. Everything should be back to seasonal by the weekends.

I went through my closet and looked for some of my favourite spring wardrobe pieces and planned out how I will wear them in the summer.

As per last week, I highlight which piece I am focusing on and then show how I wear iti n the spring on the left, and how I will transition it to summer on the right-hand side.

  1. The Shirt Dress

The summer staple piece is also great in the spring layered over jeans, trousers, joggers, and leggings. I love the look of dresses over pants and actually wore my summer linen dress last week with jeans and moto boots.

It is one of the easiest pieces to wear in the summer. You can pair it with any type of footwear that you like, my preference being sneakers. Slick your head back or wear a headband (or both), grab a fun tote and you are good to go.

I love the look of the New Balance 574 sneaker. I have a vintage pair in green that you can see here. They are really comfortable and have lasted me forever which is amazing seeing that they are vintage.

2. The Black Sundress

I’m fairly certain that every wardrobe has some version of a black dress. I love a good slip dress but in the summer I also love a loose, flowy sundress.

In the spring you can wear it layered over a bodysuit or t-shirt, a Chanel-Esque jacket, socks, and some comfortable slip-on shoes. But in the summer it is easy and breezy with a straw hat, espadrilles, and large tote bag.

3. The Tank Top

Seems basic right? But it is also a piece that a lot of people only bring out for the summer weather which limits its use.

Tank tops are very versatile pieces. They are perfect for layering under sweaters and blouses in the colder months., as well as just wearing solo in the summer. I usually have a few men’s Hanes tank tops in my wardrobe for the whole year.

4. The Palazzo Pants

These are silk palazzo pants but you can find a good pair of wide-leg pants in pretty much any colour, pattern, and fabric. For summer I would stick with something cool, lightweight, and breezy.

Keep casual and cozy in the spring with a sweatshirt, and sneakers. In the summer it pairs perfectly with a camisole, sandals, and a short or long kimono.

5. The Wrap Shirt

The wrap shirt is one of my favourite styles to wear. I have a small collection of this style that I keep adding to. Most of mine are heavier and meant for cooler weather so I really like the short sleeves and lightweight look of this one.

I find them exceptionally easy to wear, and they always look great. For spring you can keep yourself warm by pair it with a cozy cardigan, trousers, and loafers.

As the weather heats up put on some cropped trousers and sandals.

6. Strapless Dress

Strapless dresses are just for dressy occasions. Why? Because you can layer over and under to make it an easy everyday dress that is unique.

I’m pairing it with stripes today. Layer a sweater over it in the spring, and pair it with Converse. Layer a t-shirt under it in summer and pair it with some classic Vans. Grab a beaded bag to keep it fun and quirky.

7. The Pyjama Shirt

I absolutely LOVE wearing pyjama shirts as everyday wear. I love the pink, but I just bought one from Zara in black. I think that I really want it in the fushia as well though. I’ll wear it tomorrow so you can see it on my Instagram tomorrow morning.

8. The Bodysuit

I used to think that I hated bodysuits but over the past two years, they have become a wardrobe staple. I don’t have a tank style though, which will be remedied when my Everlane delivery comes tomorrow. I really liked the colour of this one. It’s called peppercorn and appears to be a purple-grey colour.

It comes in thong and bikini cuts…I always get bikini since I hate thongs :/ I probably won’t wear it alone since I don’t usually do a sleeveless, but I will definitely be pairing it with jackets, blazers, and open front shirts.

The sizes are going fast in this colour but they have a restock coming. I have bought waitlisted items from them before and it has always been quick and easy when the product comes back in stock.

Next week I should be getting back to capsule wardrobes. I might come in with a summer capsule wardrobe.

I hope you guys are doing okay. I am waitlisted at 6 pharmacies for the vaccine since they just lowered the threshold to 40 here. Everyone rushed out and booked right away and now it’s hard to get an appointment.

Leave it to the Gen Xer’s to pick up the vaccine slack from those that don’t want to get it or are “vaccine shopping”.

Stay Safe.
