When you are trying to create a capsule wardrobe there are so many options to choose from when it comes to style personalities. If you gravitate towards romantic style clothing than a romantic style summer capsule wardrobe might be for you.

Today I am going to try to help you determine whether you are a romantic style personality and a guide for how to achieve a summer capsule wardrobe that will work for you.

What is a Romantic Style Personality?

The romantic style personality is the most feminine of all the style personalities.

You are usually drawn more to dresses and skirts, and if you wear pants they are usually a wider, loose-fitting leg, or drapier fit.

You like flowers, pastels, and soft-cut clothing. Harshly tailored or angular pieces usually are not for you although when paired with something overtly feminine can make a more modern romantic style.

Your hair and makeup are also softer and always on point. You rarely run out the door in a messy bun and leggings.

Select pieces in delicate fabrics, soft pleats, feminine cut knits, and sweetheart necklines.

Look for small details that make a big impact like a simple one-shoulder top, delicate gathering, flutter sleeves, or looser draping sleeves.

Dresses will often have a retro vibe, but can also be very modern in a mid length style when in a feminine fabric like Broderie Anglaise.

You can wear less feminine style footwear, just pick them in an unexpected feminine print or colour to soften them.

Select handbags versus large totes.

Look for embellishments and small details like bows, lace, frills, ruffles, embroidery, flowers, or pretty buttons.

Remember, not everyone is always 100% one style personality.

There is always a dominant personality, and then a secondary one that also wants to come out.

If you find that you are mostly drawn to a romantic clothing style, but also enjoy an occasional flamboyant or eclectic piece, don’t be afraid to incorporate them.

You don’t want to box yourself into one particular style all the time unless that is 100% you.

Leave room for experimentation or those days for when you are just looking for something different.

I am an eclectic style personality, but I also have strong levels of classic depending on the day, so I incorporate those into my wardrobe.

Last week I did an edgy capsule wardrobe that embraces the eclectic vibe of mine. But I will often pick out a romantic piece that seems the antithesis of what I wear.

It’s always fun and refreshing to switch things up occasionally.

Romantic fashion is very often vintage, so don’t forget to secondhand shop some of those pieces.

Vintage is an easy way to add both romantic style, and originality to your wardrobe since many pieces are one of a kind.

My rule for building a capsule wardrobe is to buy pieces that speak to you, not ones that just look good on paper.

This means, there is often a checklist of criteria you are looking for in your pieces, and sometimes something will check those boxes but won’t make your heart flutter like the piece that checks none of the boxes.

Always choose the piece that makes your heart flutter.

Stay safe.
