I am doing something a bit different this week. Years ago I did a different 10 day packing list that went from day to night. It was actually one of my most popular posts then and seems to have begun to gain traction again which is weird since it is old.

I guess it is the fact that many countries are starting to open back up for travel and people are starting to research. That post was due for an update but I always put it off since I had a never-ending roster of posts that were either requested or that I wanted to finish.

I received an email a few weeks back asking for a refresher since it was her go-to travel packing list. I agree that the looks are very dated…as you stated no more skinnies 😉 so I thought I would try to jump on that today.

Although my personal style has shifted a bit since I wrote that post, the outfits might not be right up your alley this time around since I usually pick pieces according to my own tastes and biases. So I hope it doesn’t disappoint too much.

If the title doesn’t explain it, the concept behind the post is to pack light but still have enough outfit ideas to be able to shift every day look to a night look with a few simple changes.

Obviously, if you will be attending black-tie events that will be a whole other packing issue and keeping it light will probably not be possible.

Back to the gist here, taking a day look to a night look is usually a matter of just changing the shoes, adding some simple jewellery, tidying or pulling back the hair, and my favourite is a red lip.

I always find that a red lip is a really quick and easy way to elevate any look.

This post is focusing on a summer travel packing list because we have now entered the depths of heat hell here and it is what I am currently living. Plus, it is summer stuff in the stores here at the moment.

I am a huge believer in only bringing three pairs of shoes on vacation. That would include the pair you wear for travel.

I could easily wear one pair of sandals and a pair of sneakers alternately, and then have a third pair that are heels and only used for dressing up.

BUT, if you are the type of person who needs a little variety then I would pick three pairs that you will wear, then add the heels. Or even have a pair of sandals that are a little more dressy looking and use them as your nighttime shoe.

If you really plan out your travel wardrobe and travel outfits ahead of time you should have no issues alternating between two pairs of shoes for 10 days.

I also couldn’t decide between to bodysuits.

I like the sleek, classic short sleeve white bodysuit because it is easy to wear, and will look great with everything. I also liked a grey shimmer bodysuit is just that has just the right amount of something extra that I always enjoy.

I prefer short sleeves to tank tops, though so I went with the white.

I also went with drapey, loose-fitting pieces for most of my choices since skin-tight clothing in summer is uncomfortable.

The blazer is a linen blend that is much more breathable in summer, and another piece that I have on the way to me…although I’m still waiting for the H&M haul that I ordered last week.

I included the same clutch that I had in a summer capsule wardrobe post a few weeks back because I loved it. I also thought that this black pouch clutch would be a great option as well. It will look great with everything.

Below I have the day outfits on the left and the same outfit with some changes for nighttime on the right.

I hope you found this post helpful.

Stay safe.
