If you had told me a few years ago that I would be making a blue capsule wardrobe I wouldn’t have believed you. That’s because up until about 3 years back I hated the colour blue.

It seems weird, but I’m not exaggerating how much I disliked it.

I never really wore anything blue unless it was denim.

I’m not sure why.

When I would read things about the colour blue being a good choice for bedrooms because of the calm and relaxing vibe I vehemently disagreed because I always found it cold and unwelcoming.

Fast-forward to a few years ago, and I was shoe shopping online and came across a bright blue pair of Vejas and fell in love.

So much so that I even bought them a tad too small because I wanted them so badly and they were the last size left.

That was the blue gateway purchase which is obviously a ridiculous statement, but from that point on I found myself seeking out the colour blue when I was shopping.

It has been a weird evolution for me.

Now I love it, and since I focused on a green capsule wardrobe last week, I decided that I would pick another colour for a fall capsule this week and blue was a no-brainer.

I love every aspect of this wardrobe from the varying shades and textures, to the addition of the bright orange flats.

I would very easily wear this wardrobe and enjoy the shit out of it.

There is a shop on Etsy that prints Bjork t-shirts and sweatshirts. Bjork is a musician whom you never saw a lot of merch for, so I was pretty excited to find so many options.

They also carry some more obscure, and harder-to-find merch band prints and my teen is pretty excited, so I bought her a t-shirt and sweatshirt of a couple of her favourites for Christmas.

And I may have also bought myself a sweatshirt in the print of the t-shirt that I included in the fall capsule wardrobe today. I chose the grey with dark green, although I loved the bright green.

I just think I’ll get more use out of that colour.

The grey asymmetrical cardigan that I included is something else that I ordered. I actually had some Zara returns and took that money to buy this sweater.

I noticed that it is in stock on the International site (where Canadians shop), and the UK site, but the US doesn’t seem to have it yet.

It says out of stock for them, but it often does on pieces that haven’t come out yet on a different site.

So if you like it and need to purchase from the US site then hold out because it will probably be in stock soon since it just came out on the other two very recently.

On a side note: I feel like 2022/2023 might be the year of the cape.

As fall and winter stock is rolling in I am noticing capes, which is a good thing because I really like capes and think they are a fun addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

The one from today’s post is a quilted version, but last week it was wool blend knit.

Both are great, and both give totally different looks which means if you are anything like me, having a multi-cape wardrobe might be in your future.

Aside from that, I am currently putting together a couple more style guides for some 90 minimalist on a budget guides in both cool and warm palettes which should be out in the next couple of days.

I want to end by saying that a lot of fall capsule wardrobes that you see out there are made from neutrals.

That is actually more common than not.

What I am trying to show you from these last two capsule wardrobes that I put out is that you don’t have to stick with all fall themed neutrals when building a fall capsule.

You can focus on one colour or multiple colours and patterns. Build it around your tastes and preferences if neutrals are not your thing.

The point of a capsule wardrobe is to make getting dresses easier by having a small collection of pieces that reflect your tastes and lifestyle.

It won’t work if you try to copy someone else’s taste.

  1. Love it. Packing for 2 weeks in Paris/River Cruise and have pulled some blue into it. Great inspiration! Thanks Sara!

    • Thank you! That sounds like such a great trip. Blue is a good colour to add because it’s so easy to pair with other colours. I hope you have a wonderful time!

  2. Love this capsule wardrobe especially since I too hated the color until last year. Now I find myself gravitating to blue and green. Thanks for always providing such inspiration. Yours is my favorite blog…….

    • Thank you do much ❤️ The change is funny isn’t it? It was like a complete mind shift and then all of a sudden I saw it with new eyes. Now blue is one of the colours that I have the most of.

  3. I hated blue also, especially navy blue, except for jeans, of course! Now I too have several items in different shades of blue acquired of the past two years or so. I guess nothing like a global pandemic to make you rethink everything, even one’s color preferences.
