This edgy capsule wardrobe was really fun this week. Usually, it is one of the last capsule wardrobes that I put together per season, but I was personal shopping for clients this week and I kept coming across pieces that didn’t work for them but were perfect for other people.

So I made a folder and kept adding to it as I came across pieces and it ended up turning into this collection.

I’m not going to lie, I kind of really love it.

And although I know that it will not be everyone’s cup of tea, there might be a piece or two that appeals to your taste.

Basically, the piece that started it all was the leather trench. It’s wild, and a definite statement piece but damn…wouldn’t I love to have this in my wardrobe?

Yes. Yes I would.

If this trench is way too over the top for you, I suggest a leather tench in a solid colour to demonstrate the same vibe without the excess.

Aritzia has a variety of colours available. I think a dark green would be incredible if you could find one though.

My idea behind this capsule was also to mix in some feminine pieces with it, so you get the contrast between the feminine and edgy that I love.

Maybe I was also influenced by the World of Barbie (which I recently went to) and that is why I was drawn to a lot of pink.

Whatever the reason, I am really enjoying the pink, black, and red colour combo and that oversized red sweater dress is calling my name, and will also work really well over pants and jeans.

Knee-high boots are huge this season with heels, chunky, and flat soles, and the idea is to wear them under dresses, or over pants.

Yes, we are tucking again, and not only are we tucking, but we are also tucking wider legs pants and jeans so that they kind of bunch and billow over a bit like they did in the 1970s.

When layered under dresses they should go high enough that you don’t have that ultra visible leg sandwich look with skin showing in between the boot and dress hemline.

If they do not go fully under the dress you can wear a tight in a colour that matches the boot in order to get it to flow from boot to dress without chopping it into pieces visually.

You can do the same thing with matching coloured socks and lower boots if your pants/jeans are too short to cover them.

This illusion will make everything look like a long line, therefore, make you look taller as a result and is something that you can apply when dressing for any occasion.

I used a base of classic wardrobe staples like a turtleneck, white blouse, sweatshirt, cashmere sweater, trousers, and jeans, and sprinkled in some trends like leather, animal print, and knee-high boots.

I then tied it all together with the colour palette, and we have a very versatile wardrobe for those that like to dress a little outside the box.

I hope at least some of you enjoy this one as much as I do.

Sometimes all you need is one piece that is much more extra looking than you usually wear in your wardrobe to freshen it up a bit.
