It is really hard to get into the mindset of spring capsule wardrobes right now when it was really cold AF outside. I really wanted to wear a dress today so I ended up with jogging pants layered underneath.

That’s the way that it goes when you live in a really cold climate.

At the start of quaratine last year…was it really almost a year ago? It’s crazy.

Anyway, at the start, I decided that I would focus more on capsule wardrobes versus packing lists.

Which I am certain you can guess why.

Capsule wardrobes and packing lists are really quite similar though.

The idea is the same, but the quantity is different, so if you have packing light perfected you can transition to capsule wardrobes easy.

It works in reverse as well.

What is a capsule Wardrobe?

Here is a quick definition so as to not sound redundant.

Simply stated, a capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few key items of clothing that are classic and will not go out of fashion. These items are then expanded with seasonal pieces.

It’s changed a lot since it’s the first introduction in the 1970s, but the overall concept is the same.

The goal of a capsule wardrobe is to buy less, wear more, and find quality items that will last you for years keeping clothes out of landfills.

Capsule wardrobes focus more on personal style than a collection of particular items, so if your style doesn’t match the many capsule wardrobe examples that you see out there than just adapt the examples to your preferences.

If you try to alter your style to fit the traditional capsule wardrobe look, you will end up hating it and your wardrobe.

Never change who you are to check a few boxes.

I am trying something different this week. More than half of my blog audience is U.S. based so I tend to use US links to products.

I know a lot of companies don’t have websites that automatically switch to your country so I am also including UK links where I can because they are my second highest traffic location.

Which is so funny since I am based in Canada.

Also, my time management is shit right now and I was literally still working on this at 1:00 am tonight. That means that the outfit options that I usually include will be delayed until tomorrow.

*I wanted to point out that I included a long shirt dress in the top section. I really like to wear shirt dresses over pants and trousers, especially when the weather can still be cool.

I find them very versatile and you can see what I mean in my How to Wear a Shirt Dress 6 Ways post.

The sneakers that I included in this post are the same as my bright blue Veja Rio Branco. I love them, and they are way more comfortable than any other Veja style that I own or have tried.

Stay safe.
