You might have noticed that I was sporting a new purse this week. Well, new to me but it’s actually preloved. I love being able to find something that may no longer be considered an “IT” bag but is something that speaks to you.

It actually was considered an IT Bag way back in 2011, but you don’t really see people sporting them anymore but that didn’t sway my decision.

It is the Fendi Silvana bag and it comes in a whole slew of colours. The blue combo and the green combo are beautiful and it would have been a hard decision if they were available at the same time as this one, but they weren’t in any shops within Canada.

So I guess that I am lucky that I have only a handful of online secondhand/consignment retailers to choose from, because if I try shopping sites that are not within Canada then the item is no longer a good deal once you factor in exchange rates and other costs.

I came across this one just before my birthday and thought, “hmm, why not? Happy Birthday to me.” I am so pleased that I did because she is beautiful.

I was a little uncertain due to the photos in the listing. It showed it as being more of a deep blood red and dark taupe than the bright red/camel combination that it actually is.

After I deep dived into the colours the Fendi Silvana came in, I did not once see the dark red/taupe combination but came across the red/camel a lot.

This made me think that it was the lighting in the photos so I decided to take a gamble, and it worked out in my favour.

I decided to do the whole Sezzle payment plan because as I have explained before, it makes it so much easier for me to schedule and pay bi-weekly payments than pay the whole cost upfront.

I’m just much more comfortable with that.

It’s just a weird way that my brain works. It is the same reason that I start Christmas shopping in the Summer vs waiting until the last minute.

I have yet to be disappointed with a secondhand designer purchase. Sometimes shoes are a little snug but I bought this shoe stretcher and it always does the job.

Aside from small fit issues I find it an economical, and sustainable way to add some forever pieces into your wardrobe.

On any given day I have a minimum of 30 tabs open at once. Many of these are dedicated to these sites so I can stay updated when they get new stock because things go quick in these stores.

Maybe I should do a post on my process for shopping secondhand. What do you think?

Stay safe. It’s getting scary again.

  1. i would love any and all tips for shopping secondhand! i’ve got credit on the realreal and i can’t decide if i should put it towards a handbag from the row or a fancy watch. i’m a big believer in treating yourself on your birthday, i love your “new to you” Fendi!

i took inspiration from you and started my christmas shopping. i’ve ordered something for my husband off of etsy that’s going to take 3-4 weeks to be made, then shipped from england, so it’ll probably get here right in time for christmas, all things considered, lol.

    • I love both purses and watches so that’s a tough call. I have a few watches, none very fancy but tend to wear my iwatch the most. I think that’s because of the motivation “you can do this” things it spouts when it thinks you are exercising 😂
I personally would probably get more use out of a purse but that is only because I would be nervous wearing an expensive watch thinking I might lose it. Although a watch is probably the better investment of the two. What it comes down to is which one you would use more, and which one makes you happier when you wear it.

That’s absolutely no help, sorry. 😬

But yay for getting one I present done! I bought my teen a pair of Doc Marten’s and Mary Janes. One for Christmas and one for her birthday at the end of November.
