Last week was sign-up time for fall and winter art classes for my youngest. Registering opened at 6 am and there were only 8 spaces open for each. I swear I had anxiety for the two weeks beforehand worrying that I wouldn’t get her in.
I actually dreamt about it, which is pretty exciting.
But I managed to make it by the skin of my teeth and got her into both of them.
The classes were full by 6:01.
Art is the only thing she has ever shown interest in.
Dance classes or sports would be like her own personal hell so I am glad that it worked out. Plus she loves the teacher who is a super artsy cat lady.
They have a lot in common.
I was doing some thinking this weekend about winter coats. I know, I know, but I need to think about it early because I have to know what I am looking for.
What I have really been searching for consistently for the past several years is a long wrap coat with really wide sleeves.
The general idea of what I am looking for is like this coat from By Malene Birger. It has the shape, sleeves and length I want but not the price tag.
So I am seeking something similar that I can hopefully find in an affordable price range.
As for the rest of my fall and winter wardrobe, I don’t think I need anything. I have a nice collection of sweaters, blazers, lightweight jackets, and footwear.
Maybe some fitted turtlenecks for layering. I have one, but it is in a bodysuit and I don’t always feel like wearing a bodysuit.
So maybe something in a thin merino wool. Chocolate brown would be nice, but burgundy, navy, or forest green would also work.
Maybe I will stop by COS this week and see if they have more fall pieces in because their merino turtlenecks are always really great and during the season come in a large selection of colours.
I also just discovered that my Everlane kick flares are the perfect length (on me) to fit over ankle boots without showing skin or socks.
This makes them a piece that will transition to fall and winter.
I love pieces that work in all seasons.
And now I kind of want them in another colour but I have my Aritzia cropped pants in grey, and camel already and they are similar enough in style that they can do the same job in my wardrobe, so I don’t need more of those colours.
That leaves navy blue. And while I am quite partial to navy, it is close enough to the black that I probably should pass.
And that my friends is how my brain works when I am trying to decide if I want to buy something.
It helps to cut down on impulse buys because once upon a time I probably would have just bought the grey without thinking about it and they would never be worn.
