With July being almost over, that means my birthday is almost here which then means that summer is almost over. It’s felt like that since I could remember.

The first part of summer crawls a bit (even though it didn’t crawl this year), and then once my birthday hits it seems to fly by in super speed.

I used to hate it as a child but as I got older and realized summer actually sucks, I quickly amended my thinking.

I have been doing a lot of looking through Poshmark lately and this week I bought a winter coat from there.

It is a bright red, vintage, wool coat that looks like it will be nice and long, and oversized without being too oversized.

But it is always really hard to tell based on people’s photos and lack of measurements. I asked but she never responded.

So I took a gamble.

It is a vintage size 10 and since vintage sizing leans to the small side I feel like it will fit maybe like an 8 which should give me the fit that I am striving for.

One of my wishlist items for this season was a secondhand red winter coat, and I am thrilled to have found one before the season rolls in and people are going to be searching for coats.

Tip number one: vintage sizing is usually smaller so compare measurements if they are available.

I think it is going to arrive tomorrow, so I can’t wait to see how it looks. I will be super bummed if it doesn’t work out, but it definitely has a good resale value.

That is something that I always try to keep in mind when making a purchase from Poshmark. If it doesn’t work out can I recoup most or all of my money?

It helps me to keep in perspective whether the price is good or not.

If I don’t think I can recoup the costs, then I will often pass and see if I can find it cheaper because honestly, people will often price things way out of the realm of realistic which can be a huge turnoff depending on the item.

Anyway, that’s my second tip for shopping secondhand.

If you see something that you like but aren’t sure about the price do some comparison shopping to determine whether you are paying way over its worth.
