New York, the city that never sleeps. Are you travelling to the Big Apple this summer? Are you wondering what to pack for New York City in the summer? Then this post might be for you.

The key to a New York travel wardrobe is to keep it chic, and sophisticated with  some edge, and make sure that all of your outfits can easily transition from day looks to night looks.

This will make everything easier for when you are busy and running from one outing to another.

It should be as simple as a switch of the shoes, add a jacket, and a little red lipstick to completely transition your look.

New York is one of the top travel destinations in the world for a reason.

There is so much to do that your daily potential activity combinations are endless.

Take your NYC itinerary and the weather into consideration when you are planning out your travel wardrobe.

The perfect travel capsule wardrobe will not only fit into your carry-on suitcase (with rolling and using packing cubes), but will also take the stress out of what you are going to wear each day.

To streamline your capsule wardrobe, it is good practice to try on and/or layout as many outfit combinations as possible and take photos of them to keep on your phone for reference if you feel uninspired or don’t know what to wear.

If you are looking to up your chic level but don’t have a designer budget, I suggest buying second-hand designer pieces.

A few of the items I included above are from The Real Real, and will add that little bit of extra something to your wardrobe without breaking the bank.

A designer scarf, sunglasses, or bag will all elevate your look and many of the second-hand online retailers offer layaway services.

I am currently using layaway for a second-hand purchase.

I am almost done paying it off and I couldn’t be more excited.

New York City is one of the world’s fashion destination so if you want a surefire way to look put together just stick to classics (and when in doubt wear black).

This packing list is for 10 days in New York City in summer. All of the visuals in this post are meant as a guideline to aid you in creating your own NYC Packing List based on your own clothing, colour preferences, and personal style.
