I guess the most exciting part of the weekend for a huge part of the population was the premier of The Walking Dead. For everyone except me it feels like. I swear I am the only person that I know that doesn’t like it, even mother loves to watch it. Please tell me that I am not alone in this. I rewatched the new Outlander episode while it was playing in silent protest.
I finished my Halloween diy and it turned out ok. It could have been better but my glue gun crapped out on me. I’m pretty sure Roo broke it and just silently returned it to the drawer hoping I wouldn’t find out. I’ll try to get my pictures organized and something posted about it this week, you know……before Halloween 😉
Christmas, Christmas you are sneaking up and scaring me. I decided to kibosh the whole Playmobil hospital for Merle plan. I was going through and purging the girls toys when I realized what a god damn mess they are once you take them out. There are so many little tiny pieces that it becomes almost overwhelming to play with. My next plan is Calico Critters because what kid doesn’t love animals that wear clothes and live in houses? I’m pretty sure that she loves animals more than people anyway so I’m sure it will be a win.
Do you know what a great way to end the weekend is? Your husband bringing home Pho for dinner after being away, and some chocolate he got sucked into buying from the kids standing in front of a store.
So these are the Gucci Brixton loafer dupes that I bought above. I love them. They fit great and do not need to be broken in. I wore them straight out of the box (with a sockette on) and walked around for several hours doing errands and had zero issues. I thought for sure I would need a bandaid or two but they didn’t bother me at all. The leather is extremely soft which is probably why I had no issues, and they fit true to size. I have an average width (maybe slightly on the narrow side but I never get narrow width shoes), and I wear and 8 and ordered an 8 with a perfect fit. I mentioned that I was having issues finding them in Canada and then I found them randomly on The Shopping Channel. Now with the easy pay, in three more equal payments they are fully mine 😉
The Most Accurate map that you will probably ever see and you probably won’t like it. It kind of puts things into a strange but cool perspective and shows how conditioned we are in to believing that the maps we see everyday are realistic representations.
Books from 1923 – 1941 are now liberated. Libraries are now allowed to scan and make available books from between these dates as long as they are not being actively sold.
A couple more books to add to our Christmas lists are the newest Harry Potter Illustrated Edition (Azkaban) which is Roo’s favourite book in the series. And they are also releasing an illustrated version of Fantastic Beasts coming soon. I imagine that one will have beautiful illustrations and is a definite buy.
Weekly Finds:
Topshop has up to 50% off sale items currently. No code needed. I love this crossbody with a bit of animal print. These studded loafers are only $10 but there are only a few sizes left. Corset tops are also $10 and come in four colours. Who doesn’t like green boots? Some awesome looking maternity jeans if you are pregnant. I don’t recall having a stylish jean option during wither of my pregnancies. Or maybe just a black leather skirt for fall.
Lord + Taylor is having and extra 30% off with the code FRIENDS. Need a new coat? They have some great styles for all seasons like this leopard print one. Christmas decor is also included in this sale, like this squirrel for my squirrel lover. There are also lots of good deals to find in the Plus Size department as well.
Urban Outfitters up to $50 off node code. I love this graphic tee with one of my favourite shows, and this tee with one of my favourite bands. One of my biggest regrets is not seeing them in concert when I had the chance 🙁 Storm Trooper or Grateful Dead dancing bear string lights? Ummm, yeah. And while I hate aliens, Roo loves them and would really enjoy this. While Merle prefers yellow and would probably enjoy this one.
Madewell and extra 30% off sale with code GOODLOOKS. These boots are super cute and come in brown or black. A good deal on a pair of Converse with a twist, in pink or black velvet. And I love these jeans. I actually used them in a packing list of mine a few weeks back.
Anthropologie is having an extra 25% off sale. Hello gorgeous velvet dress even though it’s super expensive. This super awesome fur coat that will make you think of Big Bird. And a super cute and colourful striped sweater.
I started a tentative new series on Saturday to get more posts out per week. I see people pumping out a post er day mon-fri and I think “how do they do it?” so I am going to try to get at least one more out. In that post I talked about how I have looked for a comparable Gucci Brixton or Jordaan dupe to add to my shoe collection. A nice classic leather loafer that will be timeless. The style that I kept going back to was by Sam Edelman but I was having issues on finding a way to affordably get it in Canada. If I bought from the U.S. the exchange rate, shipping costs, and duty fees would get to a point that I might as well pop over to the mall and get the Gucci pair (a slight exaggeration but buying from the U.S. increased the cost to make it not worthwhile. At all). So I Google searched within Canada and weirdly enough I found a pair on The Shopping Channel. So bizarre right? Now in 4 equal payments they will be mine (and this is where I would insert a laughing emoji). I seriously hope they fit though, everywhere says they fit true to size so I should be good.
This weekend I was working on the Halloween craft for Merle’s costume. It was a lot harder than I first thought and involved a panic trip to Walmart on Saturday night to try to find another ball of the yarn I was using. After a lot of digging I found one ball left thankfully. I hope to get a sort of DIY post up for it some time this week after I finish the last few touches….and you know, if it turns out. If not I’ll pretend it didn’t happen 😉
A cold front blew in tonight (Sunday) and Tom has the patio door wide open so I am freezing my ass off. I think it’s only supposed to last a day or two before getting back to warmer temps which I hope sticks for Halloween so we can trick or treating in comfort. I remember a million years ago (2003 ish) there was a freak heat wave and Halloween night was like, 30°C so it was super awesome being able to wear my skimpy ladybug costume and not freeze. I fell asleep half standing up still in my costume propped against my bed. That was a fun night even though I felt like hell the next day.
It’s funny how long you can remember a brutal hangover isn’t it?
