Whenever I do a warm palette capsule wardrobe colour it always underperforms the cool palette. I don’t know why the preference sways that way.

Maybe because a cool palette tends to look a bit more minimalist chic versus a warm palette wardrobe can feel a little more retro with its colours.

Like a 70s or 80s vibe compared to the 90s minimalist vibe that a cool palette wardrobe often conveys.

It can also feel a little university professor or Dark Academia which I actually love so much that I made a Dark Academia Capsule Wardrobe post a couple of months back.

That being said, there is an absolute audience for the warm colour palette.

And although I am a firm believer in wearing what makes you feel good and not focusing specifically on body shape or specific colour seasons, I also know their importance.

I believe that to have a well-rounded wardrobe that you feel your best in, it is key to have specific colours, and styles of items that work well on you or for you.

I know that I love to wear grey.

Grey is a colour that I actually feel fantastic in, it makes me feel both chic and put together.

It is an easy choice when I am in a rut or want something simple that I know will work.

More like a go-to palette for me.

But, if I truly want to look my best (and feel my best) I know that warmer tones are a better choice for me.

They actually feel a lot more like me as well.

But there is room and necessity for both those palettes in my wardrobe and I will tell you why.

Balance.

If you focus too much on maintaining a certain wardrobe colour palette like all cool tone neutrals you are going to get bored.

You will feel the inevitable wardrobe fatigue, and it will make you uninspired to get dressed which is a bad thing.

Because then you switch to automatic mode where you are consistently grabbing the same pieces over and over in the same uniform because you don’t know what else to wear even with a closet full of clothes.

When you have balance in your wardrobe it makes you excited and inspired to wear your clothes.

In this winter capsule wardrobe I focused on the warm palette colours but sprinkled in some cooler neutrals, and any of these pieces will be able to be worn with the cool palette pieces that you already own.

This is important for versatility.

There are is a fashion rule that you should take into consideration when making any new clothing purchase.

You know that I don’t believe in the fashion rules like not wearing something after a specific age, but this one is different.

It is more like a guideline to help you make good purchase choices for your wardrobe.

It is called the rule of three.

There are actually a few rules of three when it comes to dressing, but this one is specifically for when you are buying.

You first think of three outfits you could create with this item, then think of three places or outings you could wear this item to.

If you can easily come up with these ideas that means that this will probably be a good purchase, and once you have it home you will be able to come up with a lot more than three ideas.

That is something that I like to use with my purchases, along with making sure that it fits my adjective and modifiers.

That way I know the piece will integrate easily and become a wardrobe item that will get a ton of wear.

Which is ultimately the point of building a wardrobe based on your tastes and style right?

I actually wasn’t going to do a post this week because of the holiday and people being busy, so traffic will be down, but because of the Black Friday sales I felt that my selections might sell out by next week, so I would have to start from scratch.

This isn’t something that I felt like doing, so I decided to post it even if no one sees it.

And so the countdown to Christmas begins.
