There wasn’t a lot that happened this week, so I wasn’t sure if I would have much to talk about tonight, and then today happened. I guess the stars aligned so I would meet this asshole and have a story to tell.
Late this afternoon, I walked over to Walmart to pick up a few things we ran out of and something for dinner.
My closest Walmart is in a mall, so when I go, I walk through the mall all the way to the other side, where it is located.
Coming home, I usually go out the lower Walmart doors and take the outside route, especially now that the weather is getting nicer.
It’s also quicker. This is a detail of the story.
Anyway, I was in a long line to use the self-checkouts. It was actually moving fast even though a lot of the checkouts weren’t open.
So I am standing there listening to music, waiting my turn, and this man’s loud voice from further back in the line starts to yell and berate the only guy working, who is monitoring the checkouts.
He also happened to be just a kid of maybe 17 or 18.
He was yelling and swearing to open up more registers, and the kid was trying to explain he wasn’t authorised to and he could go to one of the registers with a person working as an alternative option (which are literally located right next to the self-checkouts).
So he kept going, and getting louder while trying to recruit the people around him to agree with him, and people were getting uncomfortable and trying to distance themselves as much as you can in a lineup.
While I ignored him for a few minutes, I was like, why? Why is he allowed to get away with this shit, and no one is saying or doing anything?
This is why these men behave like this, because they get away with it all the time, so I looked over my shoulder and made eye contact with him and said, “dude, calm the fuck down.”
Well, that apparently was pouring gasoline onto a flame because he then started yelling that he was going to beat the shit out of me.
He’d kick the shit out of me right there, and he could take me down, in which I replied “go, ahead. You should try.” and he responded with “what are you going to do? Get one of your big guys to protect you?”
So stopped, looked around me and asked, “What big guys?” Then the beating the shit out of me talk continues until it’s my turn to check out, and I said “fuck off you entitled piece of shit”, and I get a “what did you call me?” response, so I stopped walking to the cash, looked over my shoulder and stared at him while I loudly called him an entitled piece of shit again.
Then I checked out my stuff, hoping that he didn’t wind up at the cash next to mine. He didn’t, it was a lady who asked if I was okay.
When I finished and went to leave, I could see him standing out front staring at the parking lot, probably because he is dumb fuck and couldn’t remember where he parked.
But I decided, for my own safety, I would backtrack upstairs and through the mall to the opposite side instead of walking outside for a longer period and risk having to encounter him when no one was around.
Because he’s the type of guy who would hit me with his car if he saw me.
Anyway, that was fun. And even though he threatened violence, he is a garbage person and needed to be called out.
I wish I had got a photo so I could blast him online, but honestly, he probably would have physically accosted me right there in front of everyone. I am pissed that no one called security, though and he got to freely walk out to do this again.
But before that, I got to enjoy some window shopping. So it wasn’t all full of drama.
I went into Old Navy because they are having a big sale, and I wanted to see if they had any cargo pants like the pair that I bought from there a couple of years ago, also during a massive sale.
And as someone who was never a cargo person, I love these pants (which you can see in outfit 4). I wear them all the time, and they are both comfortable and versatile.
The drawstring at the bottom makes tucking them into boots easy, and they cuff really well into a culotte-length pant, which works really great in spring and summer.
Anyway, I was searching for a backup pair, or maybe something in a different colour like a tan or khaki versus the army green.
And they have some.
This pair is almost identical to them. Even with the elastic back, the relaxed fit (I did go up a size), and the drawstring bottoms. The sizes are getting picked over for the sale, but it’s worth a shot.
Note: it’s currently not showing the green which means it just went out of stock, but it will probably be back.
I noticed the sizes coming in and out of stock while perusing the site.
Also, since my messy girl summer post, I have been thinking about neon pink flip flops.
The pair I included is a jelly wedge flip flop, but today I also saw these for $9 that would make an excellent, inexpensive option, since I don’t like to invest in sandals because I don’t wear them often.
I am contemplating going back to grab them tomorrow because I don’t actually own a pair of flip flops, and that feels almost sacrilegious at this point, and the price is good.
A couple of other things that I tried on at the same time as the cargos were this cropped sweatshirt in grey which, while, cropped, isn’t a belly-bearing crop when paired with a high-waisted bottom.
I think it would also look good over a slip dress.
I have been wanting a loose, cropped or off-the-shoulder sweatshirt for a while. I liked the navy as well.
And finally, this merino blend cardigan that is lightweight with a sheerness to it. Perfect for spring and summer. I like the green as well, but the white is just so perfectly 90s minimalist.
Okay, that is it. So much for having an unexciting week.
Take care, friends.
