I am currently scrolling the Chewy website to stock up on all my boys’ favourites for the next few weeks. I really love Chewy, and have never had anything but great experiences with them.

Well, except for the lazy delivery guy who threw the package in the middle of my building’s foyer and walked away, which isn’t their fault, but is the delivery guy’s.

Plus, it is almost same-day delivery in the area. I always get my order less than 24 hours after placing it.

They also sent me a card last week thanking me for my continued business. It has a really cute cat on the front, and my youngest stuck it to her bedroom wall collage.

Who hasn’t filed their taxes yet? Me over here, I haven’t.

I’ve gathered my numbers so we can get my husband’s filed, but mine don’t actually have to be filed until the end of June because I am considered a business and business taxes don’t follow the same timeline.

I plan on waiting as long as possible because I don’t want to see my tax owing balance go up.

It has been a really rough year, and with my husband not working consistently during this time, it means money is really tight, so I can’t pay them off in higher amounts.

I imagine it will only get worse with AI decimating sites like mine by stealing content and everyone using ChatGPT to answer questions they could Google so the person who actually figured out the answer gets the traffic.

This means that I am trying to figure out a way to pivot. I guess I have some things to think about over the next bit.

Maybe it’s time to take that leap fully into the secondhand resell market, even though options are limited to where I can ship due to tariffs and ridiculous shipping fees.

It has been one step forward and two steps back my entire life, and I want to simultaneously cry and scream.

Anyway, lots to think about, and I hope we all have a fairly uneventful week (in a good way).

  1. Ugh, even googling something isn’t safe anymore, because the first thing you see is likely to be an AI summary. I know there is something you can type to leave it out of the results, but if I googled that I’m sure I would get AI telling me how to block AI.

I sometimes joke that at 43 I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up, I guess AI has put most people in that position.

    • Right?! My 21 year old has been looking for a job for two years. The typical jobs for 15-23 year olds have literally disappeared thanks to ai, and now if there is an opening thousands of applicants try for one or two positions.

It’s a rough go. My husband works in film and this is Canada’s biggest film city which is usually booming with jobs but he’s having a hard time too.

Apparently if you toss a swear word in a search you won’t get any ai overview. It’s worked anytime I’ve tried. It makes for a weird search history though.

  2. Hi Sara, for reselling have you tried Whatnot. It apparently has reasonable fees and draws buyer crowds. It’s fun to watch too lol. I will try it myself one day when I get some courage! I’ve bought heaps on there it’s so addictive as a buyer haha.

    • I’d love to try whatnot but my neurodivergent self can’t speak on camera or do any kind of public speaking. It’s been such an obstacle in my life and holds me back but I just can’t do it. I can’t even FaceTime comfortably 😬😞
