I would like to take a moment to talk about how much I dislike Valentine’s Day. My whole life, I have never been a fan, and since I was inundated with Valentine’s shit today when I was running errands, I wanted to mention my disdain.
I am already seeing “Valentine’s Gift Guides” across various platforms, and my distaste grows.
Who needs a gift guide for Valentine’s Day? Especially one full of Amazon shit.
Spring merchandise has also come out in full force this last week. I walked through an invasion of pastels and mariner stripes today and didn’t like anything.
Some of it actually gave me a big feeling of deja vu. It felt very Sears catalogue circa early 90s and not in a good way.
It’s weird, because I always find this happens with spring. It’s like there are really defined styles for the other three seasons, but spring always seems to fall flat for me.
Like it can’t decide which direction to go, so it regurgitates the same styles year after year.
I have been mastering the art of layers for the last week because it has been very, very cold. Very cold.
Thankfully, my main coats are oversized enough with wide sleeves so they fit over my layers easily, because there is nothing worse than when your arms can’t bend and feel like a stuffed sausage just because you wanted to wear a bulky sweater.
I am currently in the mindset of trying to plan out what my spring and summer footwear is going to be.
I already have enough sneakers, and I don’t wear sandals, so I think this might be the year of the mule.
When SSENSE was having their massively discounted sale, I picked up some Jacquemus ultra square-toed mules in a snake print that are amazing.
They are this print, but in this style. This was about 4 months ago, and they were around $150 CAD with the discount.
I feel like I might have got lucky and they were discounted incorrectly, because when I went back the next day, they were almost double that.
Anyway, I adore the ballet pointe shoe-esque square toe so very much and actually was obsessed with them when they first came out, but accepted that I would never get a pair since they were way out of my price range.
They are my first spring and summer footwear of the upcoming season. And although I am not excited about hotter weather, I look forward to wearing them.
