I finally got the Christmas tree up, which is so much later than usual. We tend to aim for the middle of November to have it up for as long as possible, but this year, other tasks kept needing to be done, and then it would get too late.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

But last night I made sure to figure my shit out, and it actually took me until midnight to get the bloody lights on. I hate that part, love the result though.

It made it cozy with the snowstorm that was taking place at the same time. I didn’t end up falling asleep until almost six, though, so today I am functioning on half a brain.

Probably less if I am being honest.

You can see my new-vintage red boots, and the vintage DNKY leather pants I was talking about last post, in some of my outfits.

The boots were a good find. I also bought myself a Christmas gift yesterday, so it better not get refunded, or I am going to be really sad.

Japanese fashion/designers are probably my favourite if I had to pick. They align with an aesthetic that deeply appeals to me.

So when I saw a newly listed Junya Watanabe – Comme Des Garçons distressed tweed jacket, I was like, holy shit, this was made for me. Think Chanel vibes but deconstructed, not perfect.

This line, the Comme Des Garçons Man that has the pink label, is a line designated to menswear designs configured for females. It’s from 2004.

I probably never thought about anything less, because it just felt right. And I knew that this wasn’t something that I could sleep on because someone else would sweep in.

Then I would have to add the photo to my regrets folder on my desktop. Yes, I have a folder where I keep track of items that escaped me.

It helps me to remember what to occasionally search for in case another pops up. But, if I am being honest, I have yet to find anything in my regrets folder again, which is upsetting and another reason why I moved fast.

That, and I did some quick research to see how much they and similar items from that line go for, and it seems that I got a pretty good deal.

One listing I saw for the same jacket in a different size is asking $8500 USD, which is insanity, and she probably has her head way up her ass with that figure, but you never know what someone might be willing to pay when they have the money, so kudos to her for trying.

But if you are going to ask that much, at least take better photos.

Anyway, that is my long-winded way of saying that I am starting to concentrate on bringing those dream pieces in versus spontaneous fast fashion shopping.

It will be a much, much slower process, but in the end, it will be more gratifying, and they aren’t styles that are based on trends, so they will have longevity.

I am trying to think of a long-haul wardrobe that fits my personality, versus pieces that scratch the shopping itch but get dated quickly.

The focus is on the big picture, and I am excited to see it evolve and to share the journey.
