My little velvet peplum jacket in outfit 1 is currently on sale. It’s a nice jacket, with little puff shoulders and covered buttons.
It’s like one of those pieces that you buy inexpensively and have for years, continually shocked that was where you bought it from.
Every week, when I drop my youngest off at her pottery class, I go to the mall while I wait to pick her up.
I usually run errands if I have any, but mostly I browse the shops because I like to see things in person, try stuff on, and check quality.
It is a process I enjoy for a couple of hours while I wait.
This week I spent some time in the Gap because I am in love with the 100% cotton sweater I bought, and I wanted to see what colours they had available in the store.
I also wanted to try on other sizes because mine is a medium tall.
Which I bought because I wanted some extra length in the body and arms, so I also wanted to see how the regular fit was.
Unfortunately, they don’t have navy blue in the Canadian stores like they did in the US (although I think that colour is now sold out), but I liked the lighter brown (toasted almond) and the cream.
Mine is the chocolate brown.
It is a substantial sweater. The knit is heavy and hangs well with wider cuffs. It’s just one of those sweaters that feel good on, and I keep grabbing for it when I am going out.
And since it is 100% cotton, it washes well, keeps its shape, and doesn’t pill like many synthetic sweaters do.
I layer it over a t-shirt, and pair it with jeans and boots, then throw a coat over. It is like my current uniform.
You can see the brown on me here for the medium-tall fit. That is a good example of my uniform.
The colour I am leaning towards is the cream, though, but I just noticed that they have the same sweater in a mock-neck version, and now I am torn.
I know they are going to be selling out over the next few days of Black Friday sales, because they always sell out during peak sale time, so I need to make a decision.
Regular crew neck in cream, and black in mock-neck, maybe? I already know that I like them, so they will definitely be worn.
Ugh. I hate decisions.
I am also partial to the CashSoft Boyfriend Sweater with the super wide cuffs that I shared in the soft grunge capsule a few weeks ago.
It keeps selling out, but I really like that one in the toasted almond, even though sizes are limited.
Also, one more thing before I go, I have been wearing a lot of lightweight turtlenecks as layering pieces lately.
I also really like to use them as a punch of colour or pattern, and the blue featherweight turtleneck I have is currently on sale. It is lightweight, so it doesn’t feel bulky layered under anything.
I don’t know, Gap is really killing it again. They’ve even brought back the style of commercials they used in the 90s with the singing and dancing.
Somebody on their marketing team knows exactly what they are doing.
And I heard their 90s perfumes are coming back. I had a small version of Dream that I bought at the Eaton Centre on a school trip to Phantom of the Opera (I think it was Phantom).
And I carried that in my backpack forever, even when it was empty, just to smell it.
I love nostalgia.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble on about picking a sweater. Have a great week, and I hope you get your Christmas shopping done soon.
Mine is complete except for one thing and some stocking stuffers.
