Something that I love about Sunday nights is that it is new stock update time on the Zara website. They also do it on Thursday nights, but Sunday seems to be the larger update.

And then this is where I talk about my love/hate relationship with the balloon pant trend.

I love them, love the idea, love them on others…but so far, I have hated them on me.

It is okay to skip by trends when they aren’t for you, because no one needs to adopt every single new trend.

But my issue is that I feel like it is for me; I just am having trouble proving it.

Last week I went into the store and tried on a few different styles and fabrics that I knew they had in stock there, and I shit you not, they were bloody awful on me.

There was one pair that I had convinced myself were going to be the winner because I had seen them on several people, and they looked amazing.

They are a more subtle balloon with a trouser look to them, and button ankles, but I looked like I was trying out for the circus.

I *think* my issue might be my height. The people I have seen wearing them skew tall, and I am obviously not, so there is extra ballooning to the already balloon cut.

Before I admit defeat, I am giving one more pair a shot. This faux leather version just came in tonight, and I feel like it might be a little bit more me.

What do you think?

I usually give up by now and bow out of the trend gracefully, like I did to vests last summer, but I am being stubborn.

So wish me luck because I have tried on way too many, and have had many good laughs at my own expense.

Oooh, also, I went into Simons today just to check out the men’s department for fashion inspiration, and they had so much that caught my eye.

Starting with this coat that I would have bought if I hadn’t bought my gold herringbone alchemical coat last year. This one checked all the boxes for me.

I also tried on this hat that I loved. It has more olive green undertones than what the website shows.

A men’s medium fits me well. Then I realized that they also carry Brixton, which is the brand of the caps that I own in this style.

They have the grey one I already have, but they also have it in a houndstooth that matches my wardrobe well.

Sigh, do I need another hat for fall? Oh shit, and I tried this for winter. It is a looser fit which suits me better than the more fitted styles, and the colour is perfect.

So I guess the question is, do I need another hat and a balaclava? The balaclava, probably yes, for an alternative to my beanie, which is 10 years old.

Maybe I will run down and grab that one tomorrow if it isn’t raining.

Last week the fixation was scarves, and this week it is hats. Maybe I work by category.
