Yesterday, a friend shared a reel with me because she thought that I would like the vintage cat necklace that he was talking about, and she was right. I mean, check it out. It is amazing.
I immediately said, “I need one”, and the search began
What I noticed is that there weren’t very many floating out there in the secondhand universe, and all the ones that I saw were sold out.
So I was getting frustrated, but noticed that they came in both gold and silver.
Which led me to come across a silver one that was at a good price. It was not pristine, but still in good condition and then it sold in a blink, and I wanted to cry.
Usually, the feeling of frustration or disappointment in a situation like that shows me that I did, in fact, really want something and it wasn’t an impulse, so I made it my mission.
That is when I realized that this is actually a charm from a Monet charm bracelet, so all hope was not lost.
Because when I searched for the bracelets, I came across quite a few that had one of these cat charms on it, but the problem was that the bracelets were usually really pricey.
So I took a chance and messaged someone on eBay who was selling a bracelet and asked if they were willing to sell the charm separately.
I thought it was a far-fetched request, but in this market, people are more willing to strike a deal. She messaged back quickly, asking what I would offer for it, so I gave her a number and she accepted.
Then she made a separate listing for the charm, and I am a happy person. The one I got is silver. This is actually the listing for it.
Okay, next on the agenda.
Remember a couple of months back when Zara was selling the vesta case necklace and I said that you could find an antique one that would be amazing quality for just a bit more money?
They did it again, this time with a snake necklace. These were very popular at different points over the last 100 years, and you can find versions of them ranging from the 1920s to the 90s all over the place.
Some can be quite pricey, but most are not, and they are infinitely better quality than the Zara version.
Plus, they aren’t fast fashion, and they are old, so they have history and stories to them. They lived a life, and that makes them much more interesting.
If you want the crème de la crème of this style, many would say that the Whiting & Davis version is the one to seek out, but they are all fantastic.
I included one Whiting & Davis that is currently on auction. There is always the chance that you can get it for a steal since people are buying less right now, so the competition is also less.
I included a red version (not W&D) in my anti-capsule post.
Anyway, they come in varying lengths, with some long enough to wrap several times or also wear as a belt.
I love versatility and options.
The one I have is gold, and is a longer version, but I put together a quick collection of a few that were not priced in the ridiculous range.
A few are the long ones, and one comes with a matching bracelet.
So if you want a fun accessory to add to your wardrobe and don’t like Zara, then here are some great vintage options.
Have a great week!

I bought that Sezanne dress when I saw it in your capsule wardrobe a few weeks ago! I hope you’ll be showing some nifty styling options for it in the future. I always love the way you put things together in such fun and unexpected ways !
Thanks Sabbian! It’s such a beautiful dress. I think it’s going to be fun to style as the weather gets cooler too.
