I had the brilliant idea of going to the mall today without taking into consideration that it is holiday shopping time, and Canada Post is on strike which means that a lot of people are shopping in-store versus online right now.
Big mistake. There were way more people than I anticipated and I had immediate regrets.
It was overwhelming.
Remember when malls had coat checks? I miss those days, and I could have easily used one today because some stores had the heat cranked and I wanted to pass out or throw up.
Not certain which direction it was heading, it prompted me to leave.
But before I did, I saw this little guy in the bookstore window and thought he was so cute until I saw the price. Damn, Jellycats are expensive.
Prior to that, I tried on a few things at Zara and liked none of them so I guess that can be seen as a win.
The whole point of the trip was to buy the ingredients to make the cheesecake that my husband likes each year for his birthday, except I use dark chocolate not white.
I hate white chocolate, the dark balances with the sweetness well.
But there were no frozen raspberries.
That meant that I had to haul ass to Whole Foods and pay 3x as much.
Although shopping at Whole Foods is a way less stressful atmosphere, it is too bad that I can’t do all my shopping there.
It amazes me how many people can nonchalantly fill a cart and act like it is no big deal that they are probably spending $700 for groceries.
My goal is to attain that level of nonchalantness in my life.
I also can’t believe it is almost Black Friday. Which makes me thankful to not work in retail at the moment because it was a tear-inducing work shift every year which I think about often.
And to those that are working it, may the odds be ever in your favour.
