Happy Canadian Thanksgiving. It isn’t a big event for me, so I try to keep it simple. I hate spending a lot of time cooking and not being hungry enough to enjoy the results since cooking seems to zap my appetite.

No turkey either because literally only one out of four of us enjoys it enough to make the effort worthwhile.

We did have two desserts though, so that’s fun.

I don’t want to be all “Hey, go shopping”, but the last few releases from Zara have been really good.

Obviously, you get the good with the bad and usually, I find that I return more than I keep when I buy from there, but recently it has been the opposite.

Maybe they are upping their game. Or maybe it’s just because the fall and winter pieces are more appealing to me.

Either way, they have some great seasonal outwear right now for a reasonable price if you are looking to update a coat and not break the bank.

Shoes too. I always seem to have success with their footwear.

And so do others apparently because when I was in the store last week there was an old pair of dirty Birks left on a shelf in a spot where a pair of shoes were.

It was an obvious swap, although I am not certain how they managed since they have security alarms at each door and multiple security guards that work the store.

For trends, I haven’t done the chore jacket trend, even though I have been searching for one secondhand to no avail.

I feel like the window for a jacket like that is small here and now that it is almost halfway through October there probably isn’t any point.

I do like this jacket though. The colour, length, fit, and fur collar. It reminds me of a jacket that I had 25 years ago which I loved to literal pieces.

Except mine was brown corduroy instead of olive green waxed cotton. Similar vibe though. I love a faux fur collar.

Last year I made it through the winter season without wearing winter boots once.

I mostly got away with wearing Uggs, and sherpa lined rainboots when it was cold or wet, but it was pretty dry and they plow the sidewalks well here which makes unseasonal footwear possible.

And although it didn’t snow much last year, it may be the opposite this year, and in that case, I may need some boots. Although I still might get away with the lined rain boots.

There is nothing exciting going on at the moment, but I do kind of feel like I could use an after-dinner nap which is pointless at 10 and I might as well just go to bed.

Maybe I will.
