A few weeks ago I put together a capsule wardrobe that had a really popular kind of barrel jeans from free people. The Moxie pull up. They were on my summer wishlist as my summer jean purchase but I could not find any retailer that had them in stock in my size.
Well, not just in my size but also from a retailer that either includes the duties and taxes in their prices, or from a Canadian retailer so I wouldn’t have to pay those.
And then I saw an Instagram post from a store that I used to shop at when I lived in Peterborough, On (moved there for school and lived there until we moved up to the city here for my husband’s work),
Anyway, the owner was wearing them.
To say that I flew to their site to see if they had any in stock in my size is an understatement.
Since they are a small retailer they only usually have one or two per size so you need to catch them while in stock. I did.
I debated the size because on the Free People website, you see so many reviews screaming to size down, but then they would attach a photo and I would see that they are actually wearing them too fitted for the way they are intended to be worn.
I hate that. Look, I get it if oversized is not for you but when something is made to be intentionally oversized and you claim that it is too big then it is probably not the style for you.
If you wear these too fitted the pockets then hit weirdly and stick out, so you don’t get that relaxed look they are meant to have.
So my recommendation to you if you like these is to get your regular size, that is how they are supposed to fit.
I was able to get them from that retailer which is called S.O.S. Save Our Soles and I am wearing them in outfit two and three.
And yes while the mirror is dirty those are paint splatters on the jeans not marks on the mirror (well, most of them I guess). For US readers they have a full stock of sizes and many different colours here.
They are a much more relaxed style of barrel jeans than the ones we are seeing that gives the slight bow-leg look.
Not as bad as the horseshoe jean, but in this pair since they are relaxed the barrel leg is less overt which is good if you are unsure if you enjoy a barrel look.
So I am glad to scratch that off of my summer wishlist. I am in the process of negotiating my next wishlist item on Poshmark.
I am waiting to see if she accepts my offer, and I hope she does because I haven’t been able to find very many of these online yet, especially used.
They are the Wales Bonner Adidas track pants in chocolate brown with a mid-blue stripe.
They have one size left here, but I could not find them in Canada anywhere. Then I spontaneously did a Poshmark search and bam, there they were in my size.
She said they weren’t really her style so they still have tags, and we all know that I am in my track pant stage of life so they are very much my style. Fingers crossed.
I’ve sold four things on Poshmark in anticipation of buying them.
I don’t care if I sweat my ass off, because if I get these I will be wearing them all summer long.
These (if I get them), my wide-leg blue track pants, the Free People jeans and vintage Levi’s are apparently what my summer pant wardrobe consists of. I am now set, and they all carry into fall and winter.
I also want to mention before I sign off, that the mesh flats I am wearing in outfits one and two are stocked again in most sizes after being sold out for a while. They are true to size and surprisingly comfortable.
There is more cushion to the sole than I thought there was going to be and the mesh is stretchy versus stiff so it moves with your foot and stretches instead of rubbing.
