Well, what seems like the inevitable finally happened. Covid finally hit out home. Not me or the girls yet, just Tom who is sequestered away in the bedroom for the last I don’t even know how many days now.

I’ve been sleeping in the bed of my youngest and she is on the couch.

My back can tell you how many slats are on that bed, so I am going to order her a memory foam mattress topper because it’s really not comfortable.

I’m surprised she hasn’t complained, but she can sleep anywhere.

My hope is that since we had limited contact between what was his tentative infection date and his positive test (they test him twice a week at work) I might be out of the clear.

He had some extremely long work days that involved me only seeing him when he slept for 3 hours. And I sleep with my face pointing the opposite direction (he flails a lot in his sleep) and also sleep with a pillow over my head it might have actually protected me.

Anyway, no symptoms, and negative tests at the moment. I’m not certain how long it is until I am out of the clear but damn I want to sleep in my own bed.

It is so bloody cold today too, almost -40°C with the wind chill. I am very lucky that I have the option of staying in because it is so dangerous, especially with the strong wind.

  1. Oh no, I hope the rest of you manage to stay healthy and that he recovers quickly! My daughter picked it up at school in October 2021 and passed it to me, my husband, and both of his parents (who had wildly different experiences – FIL had an episode we thought was a stroke; MIL had zero symptoms and we only knew she had it because she tested before an appointment).

I caught it again October last year from my boss and somehow managed to not infect anyone else despite not really being able to properly isolate.

    • Thanks! My teen ended up catching it but had symptoms for two days and now seems normal. I think I might have made it through safely this time although at this point I feel it’s inevitable and I just want to get it over with.

My husband needs two negative tests before he can go back to work but they keep coming up positive. He’s going stir crazy and it’s driving me batshit crazy. He needs to go back 😂
