Earlier this week Poshmark Canada decided to change up the shipping without any warnings to buyers or sellers, and it was a huge change.

The regular shipping from Canada Post jumped from $13.49 to $17.99 which is a ridiculous jump.

But they said not to worry because they also have partnered with Purolator who will offer the same $13.49 for regular delivery and $8.99 if you select to pick your package up from a Purolator drop-off point.

Which is fine, and actually an improvement for people like me, who live in a large city.

But not so good for those buyers and sellers that live in smaller cities because the while Canada post has over 6000 locations, Purolator only has 1700.

A huge amount of the sellers and buyers on the platform will not have access to Purolator drop off locations therefore will be defaulted to paying or only offering the Canada Post $17.99 fee which people won’t want to pay.

I was really hoping that it would grow and potentially expand into a US/Canada platform but if they can’t even give proper access to their Canadian clientele then that will never happen.

I love shopping there and have been buying something at least once a week lately, so I am sad that they are causing many of their sellers to shut their storefronts.

It’s like one of those instances that maybe they should have talked to some of their Canadian Sellers first to get feedback.

I know that they do that with the US one, they will often have discussions with their high sellers to ask their opinion before making any huge changes.

Why do businesses always seem to have the innate ability to make uninformed decisions that result in them destroying something that has so much potential?

Is it arrogance? I’ll never understand it.

Stay safe.
