I managed to move the shelves around in my room, which was my plan for this weekend. It was easier than I thought, but also made me realize that I need a better solution for storing my clothes.

I currently have one standing rack for hanging items and one Billy bookcase from Ikea for my folded stuff and some shoes.

The wall that I have them on is right next to my bed, but it is also the perfect size for a larger Ikea freestanding wardrobe.

Something more in tune to this, with a good mixture of hanging areas, shelves, and drawers. It would be the perfect size to house all of my stuff.

Mine would be a lot more full than that, though. But boy, it would be satisfying organizing that.

I also would LOVE to have one of those pull-out accessory drawers with the partitioned sections and velvet lining. I can only imagine how neat and orderly my stuff would be if I had something like that.

I get excited just thinking about it…which sounds weird, but I really, really love organizing my stuff.

It would definitely make much more use out of my accessories since they would be easy access. The current situation is too much effort for me to find something I want, so I tend to skip accessories, or just wear the same stuff on repeat.

I also make it worse for myself because I like to keep 90% of my coats hanging with my day clothes as well instead of in the front hall storage closet. I just like to have it all together, so I can see my options.

I would be a good candidate for a walk-in closet, but I wouldn’t have enough clothes to fill it. This is why I want something much more together, organized, and meant for clothes storage.

It’s funny because literally nothing else in my life is organized except my closet/my space.

It is like a small pocket that exists that I 100% have control over and can keep it the way I want without worrying about infiltration from anyone else’s shit.

When I was younger, and by younger I mean ages 8 to mid to late teens, I was obsessed with redecorating, reorganizing, and moving around my room.

I would use my allowance to buy interior decorating magazines, and I would make floor plans of my room to scale so that I could see how I could move it around best.

The first thing I ever sewed was a quilt for my dog using a pattern that I got from a decorating book.

This carried on so far that I actually applied to go to college for interior design. My portfolio ended up disappearing en route to the teacher, and I couldn’t get in without one.

I didn’t have time to put another one together, so I missed out. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if it had made it there, and I got in.

Stay safe.
