We are currently in the middle of an extreme cold warning. You know it is cold when building management sends out a notice with warnings of how to avoid your pipes from freezing. That’s never good.

I haven’t left the house today, and probably won’t tomorrow because although I like the winter, this is cold too extreme for me to enjoy a walk.

I will say that having to wear a facemask definitely helps to keep the face warm, though. When paired with a beanie it’s like wearing a balaclava.

So instead of going out I took advantage of the sun (I haven’t seen it for weeks), and I played around a bit with my clothes for spring.

I am not usually a leggings as pants kind of person. But in reality, I have also never really had a nice pair. Most of mine come from inexpensive retailers ($20 and under) and stretch out or pill badly.

They do the job, but that is about it.

Periodically I get things from Everlane to try, and this month they sent me a pair of their new Perform 24/7 leggings, and now I understand why people wear them all the time.

They are soft and very comfortable, which is more than I can say about my jeans at the moment. They are high-waisted that don’t roll down, are very opaque, and you can’t see panty lines through them.

Because let’s be realistic, I definitely wear underwear under leggings.

They also flatten, smooth and suck you in pretty good. Not Spanx good, but mid-level coverage good.

I needed the ankle length. I am also very intrigued that they come in a stirrups version. I think I might actually prefer them since I am on a stirrups kick this season.

I have an Instagram post about them tomorrow with a bit more explanation and some try-on photos paired with a few of my other Everlane pieces.

I’d like to try them with other pieces but the sun disappeared and I had to make dinner. I can see wearing them a lot with an oversized button-up and my Ugg minis.

On a positive note, I got my booster on Monday and it kicked me in the ass. The ass-kicking isn’t really positive, the booster is.

It was not as bad as my second shot, but I was pretty rough for about 24 hours. I feel good now, and thankful that I was able to receive it.

Two positives this week were that I found a red vintage Escada 1980s cashmere blazer on Poshmark, as well as a pair of vintage Ralph Lauren trousers in brown plaid with a thin lavender stripe.

I wore the trousers today, and can’t wait to see the blazer when it arrives.

There are a lot of videos this week because my brain handles them better at the moment. Less need to concentrate.

Stay safe.

Weekly Reads and some videos:

Just in case you don’t know where the term “Gaslight” comes from. This scene, and this one give the gist. This should be a mandatory watch in high school.

Orlando Soria is an Interior Designer that I follow, and this week he posted on his blog a large essay called A Covid Comedy of Errors, about what has been happening in his life these past two years. It’s a kind of behind the scenes depressing look at the life of an influencer…although he hates that term. It is an excellent read, he is a great writer.
