Weekly Reads and Finds

I am not sure if this has felt like a long week or a short week. I have no idea. That honestly sums up the last 7+ months for me. Not a f**king clue what is going on.

So while I was finding things I liked tonight I noticed a theme which leads to a couple of things about me.

  1. I really like animals dressed in human clothes. Dolls, paintings, you name it, I will probably like it.
  2. I would really like a home office/library with oddities and curiosities all over the place. I mean, my goal would ultimately spread it around the house but I would like to start with my own little corner of it.
  3. I also really like things involving human anatomy. Especially eyes. The brain is also cool.

Which leads me to my discovery of John Derian. I saw his Halloween collection on the Target website which made me search him out.

I mean, who doesn’t want a 63″ skeleton pillow? It’s the same height as me.

While this is also a Halloween Collection, it is totally my aesthetic. I would use any of these pieces anywhere and everywhere in my house.

Going through his vintage and antique collection gives me a thrill.

Guys, if I was a millionaire there would be so much cool shit in my house.

We start with a suit of armour and work our way from there.

What is your goal in life Sara? To own a suit of armour.

Stay safe.

  1. ok, not sure how i missed the john derian collection for target, but i’m officially obsessed. and will now start a mission to track down some of these pieces.

there seems to be one day a week that feels extra long, like it just drags by. other than that, it’s more or less just going from one week to the next! at work we got told that they’re not renewing the lease at our building, so i had to go and pack up my cubicle yesterday. very mixed feelings about it all…

    • I can see that being very bittersweet for you. It’s a huge change. I have a couple of friends who have gone through the same thing. One bought a house about 45 minutes outside the city which is something she wouldn’t have been able to do if she stayed in the office. She’s thrilled because she didn’t like most of her coworkers anyway 😂 The other one is having a hard time because she had three kids and no designated office area where she can close the door…and no caregivers for them during the day so it’s a shit show.

I feel for her because although I don’t have an office job where I have to report to someone I know how hard it is to try she get stuff done when you can’t sit uninterrupted to finish it. It takes 50x longer.

As for John Derian, I think he’s my new favourite. His stuff has such a vintage vibe and I love it. Good luck finding the pieces! It’s moments like this that I really miss Target. If they opened here now they would do ridiculously well. 😞
