SHOP THE POST
I spent part of the day trying to figure out this whole selling on Poshmark thing. I’d like to give it a shot because I actually really enjoyed selling on eBay back in the glory days.
It can be really time-consuming but it can also be extremely satisfying. There have been so many instances that I have come across amazing pieces and end up passing them up because either a) it doesn’t work with my personal style or b) is not my size.
It would awesome to be able to match these pieces up with the right people.
One of my dreams in life, if I ever come across a financial windfall is to open a vintage clothing shop. One of Tom’s dreams in life is to open a vintage guitar shop. I said that we could combine the two, separate the store with a painted line down the middle, and call it “Choose a f**king side.”
Or something without the swearing 😉
Since a financial windfall is probably not going to happen…even though my lottery numbers have never all been drawn in the entire history of our lottery.
I figured this was a good alternative to working towards my goal.
You have to start somewhere right?
Do you sell on Poshmark? My username thesarawatson in case you want to check it out once I get some stuff posted. When that is happening I have no idea. I need to figure out the logistics still.
I need a cheap light to brighten the area since natural light is few and far between in here, even more so in the winter. A decent white background, and a mannequin of some kind. I’d really like to have a full-size mannequin with a head but I might be thinking too big right now.
I did find some really cute poly mailers that I added to my Amazon wishlist so I can get them when I am ready.
I just know that based on my past retail experience, people like a visual representation of how to wear an item. Displaying pieces in outfits always helped to sell them, so eventually, I’d like to have a mannequin.
I think it would be a fun addition to our living room anyway 🙂 Quite the conversation piece.

Hello stylish one. Well, I really like your concept for a storefront, including the name (or some version thereof, eh?). I also totally agree with you about the outfit approach to selling individual items (especially online and for Poshmark, etc.). I can tell you for a fact that it virtually always works. I hope you get to pursue this dream in earnest. I wish I could bankroll you. Cheers, Ardith
Thanks Ardith! I always appreciate your viewpoint. I’ve started going through and getting some starter inventory set aside. My closet was due for a clean out anyway 😂
