SHOP THE POST

Did I mention that we were going to see The Phantom of the Opera at the end of January? It came back to Toronto until the beginning of February, which seems awfully short so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity.

The tickets we got aren’t the best seats because it was mostly sold out but I really wanted to take the girls.

I have seen it twice, both times were when I was a teenager and we went with the school. The seats back then also sucked, but I still remember it being a great experience so I am not too concerned.

Merle is super excited and is prepping herself by watching Youtube videos, and can’t wait. Roo is as ambivalent as a teenager usually is.

We even went out today to buy her a special dress (Merle, not Roo. Roo refuses to wear dresses) for the occasion since she doesn’t really have any outfits that are dressier except a black blazer that I’m not even sure still fits.

Thankfully Zara had a great deal on one for the Zara sale but that means we spent a good 45 minutes standing in line to pay for it today which is never fun. I try to avoid Zara like the plague when the sale is running because people are hardcore sale shoppers. The poor staff must whither inside when they have to clean the messes.

I was perusing Poshmark this weekend and can feel myself getting inspired by clothes again. I go on and off with feeling meh about my style, but I ended up buying a really lovely cropped lace jacket, and a necklace. Both by the same seller (who has great stuff) and bundled my items for a discount, plus made an offer for less than what was being asked, so I got both pieces for $48.

I feel like I may be getting back into statement jewellery. It’s been a long while, so I think I might be due for a change in that direction.

We shall see how this goes. Now if only I could get this wrong boot situation resolved.

  1. Still waiting to hear back on the boots debacle? Nice seller. NOT.

I’ve wanted to check out Poshmark, but I really balk at having to sign up before getting to check the site out. So, thus far I have dug my heals in. I do like the items you bought and looking forward to seeing them in future weekly roundups.

    Cheers, Ardith

P.S. Loved Phantom. My sister took me to see it way, way back when.

    • Ugh. It’s a process that’s for sure. I sent the boots back right away. Now I’m waiting for the other person to send mine back to her so she can make the switch. I HATE having to depend on other people to get things done. So annoying.

As for signing up just to see, I hate that too. In this instance it’s worth it for me because there is so many good deals and treasures. The US site has so much more that I wish they would allow shopping between the two sites. I don’t think it’s economically feasible for them but one can dream.

I don’t think the Phantom has been here in in 20 years so I’m pretty stoked. I hope they enjoy it as much as I did.

  2. It’s hard to imagine they won’t like it. Then again, there’s no CGI or anime…so fingers are crossed.

OK, I will sign up on Poshymark and check it out. I’m pretty disgusted with ThredUp, so I’m ready for an alternative.

Are you all recovered from the yuckiness?

    Cheers, Ardith

    • P.S. I forgot to ask, do you think you’ll take the girls to see the new Dr Dolittle film with Robert Downey Jr? It’s jammed packed with CGI. 🙂

    • We are pretty much all better now. The cough stuck around, and my nose still gets stuffed at night but I think that is from lack of fresh air in the house. When it’s not too cold I try to sleep with the window open, and have a humidifier beside the bed.

I think you will like Poshmark. It not at all like Thredup. It reminds me more of eBay back in the good ole days. There are a lot of vintage treasures on there too.

The girls haven’t mentioned anything to me about Dr. Dolittle but I’m always looking for a good movie to take them too. There have been so many crap ones out in the theatre lately that we have barely gone.

I scored a bright blue blazer in the last bit of the Zara sale which I am very stoked to outfit plan with. It’s very Miami Vice 😉

      • Damn, if that theme song didn’t pop right into my head when you mentioned Miami Vice. Can’t wait to see how you wear that blazer. Will it look more like the Sonny version…or Chandler and Ross? Ha.

OK, Poshmark it is. So glad you guys are pretty much recovered.
