You may look at today’s packing list and think that it is for spring or autumn, but it is for summer…..or at least early summer in the June – early July range in Dublin, Ireland.

The reason that this may resemble an autumn packing list is that Ireland is known to experience all four seasons in the span of a day.

When deciding what to pack for Dublin, it is important to pick a travel wardrobe that can both be used when/if the day gets hot, as well as those colder, windy days that include rain.

That means cardigans to wear over sundresses, a jacket, and a couple of scarves in various weights.

Jeans are always a good idea because not only are they warm, but they pack well, you can wear them with anything, and they aren’t meant to be washed frequently.

I’m not even going to tell you how long I go in between washing my jeans…

This could also be a multi seasonal packing list and would also or mixed climate travel (travel between various countries that have a range of weather and temperatures).

To be honest, when it came to the shoe choice I was a little indecisive.

Part of me wanted to include a pair of sandals, but then I wondered how often you would actually be able to wear them so I picked the flats* instead.

My suggestion is to pay really close attention to what the weather is predicted to be and then make a last-minute choice of flats vs sandals.

I also opted for a felt hat vs lighter summer style.

I would also suggest to bring an umbrella, but an even better choice is a rain slicker. If you are looking to save on space though, an umbrella should get you through relatively unscathed.

*I’m not going to lie, but my decision to pick flats might also have been a little swayed by the fact that I ordered a pair of the Everlane Day Gloves like above, but in red.

I’ve debated them for a long while, then the red sold out so I waited.

They restocked this spring and while the exchange rate and duties are hard to swallow, I know that they will get a lot of use.

I tend to keep and use/wear things forever so my cost per wear is really low. And as weird as it may sound I don’t actually own a pair of ballet flats, even though they are considered a wardrobe staple.

Also note that I own the blue jeans that I included in this list, and since they are 100% cotton you may want to size up depending on how patient you are.

They definitely stretch out a bit after some wear, so take that into consideration if you plan on ordering some.

They are a fantastic cut though.

  1. Hi Sara. You did a packing list for me last year for North of France and it was so great! Thank you again.
I am actually going to Ireland this year in June too, but just for 7 days. I love this packing list! What would you recommend removing for a 7 day trip vs the one pictured here for 14 days?

    • Hi! I’d probably leave out 1 shirt, 1 pair of pants, get rid of either the skirt or one dress depending on what you think would get more wear, and I would only bring 2 pairs of shoes including the pair you wear for travelling 🙂 I hope you have a great time!
