Is anyone else going crazy over the Instagram and Facebook outages today? I couldn’t get Instagram to load all day, and Facebook “worked” but wouldn’t allow me to comment or like anything. Very frustrating, and very unusual so I wonder what was really up besides the “maintenance” that they claimed.

One of my favourite things, or subjects I guess, that I teach my girls aside from history is Greek Mythology. We love it, we love to see the similarities and how it ties to other religious creation stories. We would also love to take a tour of all the Ancient Greek sites and ruins that are left. It’s fascinating.

Today’s post focuses on what you should pack for a vacation in Greece in summer. It’s very warm there with little to no rain so packing light is a must. It is also quite laid back and casual so that is also another important thing to remember when selecting your Greece travel wardrobe.

Although it is hot it also gets very windy at times, especially at night so a light jacket or blazer is a must to bring even if you don’t end up using it. I also always like to include a sweater or cardigan as well. Something that will be easy to carry with you and toss on in air conditioning or when you are touring a site that may require you to cover your shoulders. It is also good for wearing on the plane because it can get cold.

Touring the island will involve a lot of walking and potential hiking so make sure that you have a decent pair of walking shoes with a non slip surface because marble + rain = really slippery. There are also some very steep, cobblestone streets in areas and you want to be able to conquer these with ease, so heels are not advised.

Linen, loose, breezy styles, and white are popular choices for clothing, but bright colours are favoured as well. Think things that will layer easily over your swimsuit because you will probably be spending a lot of time on the beach. I’m not partial to shorts, so I veer towards loose cropped or palazzo style trousers in the summer.

Remember that even if you do not have access to laundry, you can easily hand-wash items and hang them to dry. The hot Greek sun will have the dry in the blink of an eye.

A sandal with an ankle strap is also a good choice if you plan on doing a lot of hiking and climbing.

It looks like Instagram is back online and my photo that has been uploading for the last 10 hours finally postes. It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do tonight;) Cheers.

  1. Thanks, Sara!!! I literally said aloud, “Oh, thank God!” when i checked your site and there was a new packing list. Somehow these have become an antidote to the eternal stress of my job in advertising. I feel instantly calm when I see a new post. 😉

  2. As a public school teacher in a high stress environment, your posts are something I look forward to during my lunch break. You rock!

    • Aww. Thank you. I’m glad I can ease even just a little bit of stress in your day.
