I almost forgot to post this. Long weekends throw me off and I totally thought it was Saturday (when I don’t usually post) so I neglected to publish this until now.

When I do the “What to Wear” posts I generally have two large collages with 10-12 outfits on each one, but this week I have changed it just a little. Since this trip is for 10 days there really isn’t any need for 25-30 outfit so I made one collage with 18 options. There is still definitely a lot more that you can put together with the pieces from the What to Pack for Madrid, Spain in summer packing light list from last day. These are just a general idea of what types of outfits you can wear for various outings.

During the summer months Madrid is quite hot and humid so packing lightweight, loose, and comfortable clothing is key. Dresses, wide leg pants, shorts, and light denim (for cooler indoors and nighttime) are the basics. Then add in a mixture of tops, a sweater, and some shoes, and accessories (don’t forget the hat). I like items that can be used in different ways like the shirt dress, which has several uses besides a dress. It can be worn as a swimsuit cover, layered under a sweater, and worn open over other dresses, shorts, or pants. Versatile pieces allow you to stretch out your travel wardrobe and become more creative which is what packing light is all about.

If you are heading out for a warm weather destination soon let me know what your must bring wardrobe piece is. I’d love to hear what everyone’s favourites are.

Have a great long weekend guys!

I got sucked into an internet hole on the theory of Edgar Allan Poe potentially having a time machine. It’s fascinating stuff and because I would love to use a time machine, I really want to believe that he did actually have one. A funny thing when I get lost in these internet holes (usually a Wikipedia hole) is that no matter what I start looking at, for some reason or another I end up at the page for a monarch in British history. It’s so bizarre. I started with Edgar Allan Poe and ended up at Edward the Black Prince this time. I can’t even pinpoint where my path changed. It’s fun though, and I do it often.

This first week in April was typically Canadian. Friday I had to break out the winter coats again, while today I am wearing a summer dress. And this is one of the reasons that strictly seasonal capsules don’t work for me. Things just change too fast, and too often to keep only one season in my closet at a time. I remember eons ago in college there was a ridiculously hot day in April (30+°C) and it brought everyone out that night in hordes. I was wearing a long, sarong type skirt, with a tank top, my trusty jean jacket (which I still have), and some platform sandals (early 2000’s fashion). All the patios at the clubs were open and flooded with people so we went to a strictly indoor dance club. When we left at 2am it was snowing. I had to walk home in a summer outfit in a blizzard and it was brutal. It was only about 2 miles but it sucked bad even though I was loaded at the time which I am sure helped to keep me warmer. I learned to pay attention to the weather carefully after that.

I almost forgot that Easter was coming up. Am I the only one that doesn’t really like it and wish that we never really turned it into a celebrated holiday with the kids? (Aside from those that celebrate for religious purposes. It obviously has a completely different meaning than the Easter bunny does). I had to go out and do a quick easter run on Saturday while Tom was home so I don’t have to worry about it last minute. And since there is generally at least one kid with me 24/7 it makes it hard to be a super sneaky present buyer. Next thing you know, it’s going to be time to start buying Christmas presents again :/

Hope you all have a great (and productive) week!

What to Wear in The French Riviera in Spring

What to Wear in The French Riviera Outfit Options 1-12 Packing Light List #packinglist #packinglight #travellight #travel #livelovesara

I took the girls to see Beauty and the Beast on Wednesday and it was fabulous. I loved that it was identical to the animated version, even with the same songs. It took a childhood favourite of mine and brought it to life perfectly. We all loved it. I kind of want to go and see it again because I enjoyed it that much. This is one that I will definitely buy a copy of.

This post has 24 outfit options for the pieces in the What to Pack for the French Riviera in spring packing light post from last day. I’ve kept it mostly casual-chic per request with a few dressier outfits added in. The details for the trip are in the packing list post, but here is a quick run down. The French Riviera area will be a week in when visiting family, and doing touristy things, Paris for the next week, then the rest will be spent in B&B’s visiting WWII sites, and maybe a champagne tour. The trip is for 18 days and takes place at the end of April and beginning of May when the temperatures will be mostly sunny and range from the high teens to low 20’s (celsius).

I dress casual to casual chic 99% of the time so this is the style I tend to replicate in my lists because it is easy for me; my go-to of sorts. It is so easy to alter the idea of the packing lists to suit your styles and tastes though, so take my recommendations as what they are, suggestions and examples by me, and then make them your own.

Have you seen Beauty and the Beast yet? I’m not a big movie goer but I am glad the girls talked me in to it.

Nothing motivates you to clean quite like your husband saying at noon while you are still in your pyjamas, that people might be coming over that night.  I also think he would have neglected to tell me at all if I hadn’t mentioned that I had a dream that night that he had a party, and someone stole my shoes*, so Kurt Cobain helped me try to find out who stole them. Tom was like, “oh yeah, that reminds me. Some people may be coming over tonight.” Needless to say I began to rush round and multitask at that point. I had plans on colouring my hair this day so while it was in, I cleaned the bathroom. Then I folded the massive pile of laundry that I have ignored for weeks while Roo cleaned out her closets so we could actually get in a put the clothes away. Tom made a run to Value Village to bring down our donations of two large, clear garbage bags full of clothes and shoes, one rubbermaid container filled with games and puzzles, and the old easel. At least that clears out the front doorway (minus the old coffee table that needs to vamoose).

I still have some more closet purging to do but that is enough for the day. After I go through everything in there I plan to update the “What I am Currently Wearing” post because things have changed a bit in the last few months. I’ve had to replace a few worn things, some wardrobe holes have been filled (hello boyfriend jeans), and some new ones are discovered (I am looking for a trench coat). I still have all my trusty favourites though like my Moto jacket, Fryes, band tees (I get them from here, and here, and thrift stores), and sneakers. I have meant to do an update forever and keep forgetting. You need to remind me to do these things 😉

*This totally happened to me before and apparently angered me enough that I am still dreaming about it 15 years later 😉 Way back in college when I lived with roommates, the weekend I went home to have my wisdom teeth removed my roommates had a get together. It wasn’t even a party according to my then best friend whom I also lived with. When I came back that Monday my brand new pair of shoes that I hadn’t even worn once were gone. My friend thinks she knows who took them but there was no way to prove it. I was pissed. And I am a total grudge holder so I am still pissed.

Do you have anything you are still angry about that happened years ago?
