It’s so insanely windy right now. My power keeps shutting off so it’s making typing this difficult. I feel like I should shut down the computer until the storm passes so I don’t ruin my it. When I was in high school I neglected to turn off and unplug my tv during a thunderstorm and it got fried which sucked because it was our big, old tv that we had previously had in the living room and it was super awesome to have in my room.
I was returning a couple of things to Zara yesterday and I saw this on my quick perusal of the store. I liked it and bought it without trying on, but when I got home I tried it on I saw that I had mistaken the back for the front. The way they had them displayed on the rack you can tell the salespeople made the same mistake. I assumed the opening was in the front and in all honesty I think it looks better (you can see the back in the link above). The question is, do you think it will be really obvious if I wear it backwards, or should I return it? Continue Reading →
Today was sort of an epic write off, I admit. I pretty much spent a huge part of the day googling and reading articles on medieval facial reconstruction. One article would lead to another, then Youtube videos, and Wikipedia. It kind of just took over my day. I did manage to submit my taxes early this morning (to my accountant person to look over), change the sheets, and do some laundry so I guess it wasn’t all a waste. We were going to go thrifting but I saw an email from Value Village this morning saying it was a 50% off day pre-sale for card members which means that it would be epically busy, and picked over so we skipped it.
This was a hard week. If you didn’t hear, on Monday Toronto had a van attack. Ten people are dead and 14 others are wounded after a man purposefully ran over people on Yonge St. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the news. Even now it’s still hard to wrap my head around because you just want to know why? He was apprehended soon after but the reason behind the attack is still not certain. A Toronto Fundraising site has raised 1.5 million as of now, so here is the link if you wish to donate to the cause.
On a more positive note they caught the Golden State Killer after 40 years using online DNA sites. This has caused a slight uproar in the Geneology/DNA research community in regards to accessing peoples’ DNA without their “permission” to help them solve this crime. Lots of people say it’s a slippery slope (I hate that term) but I say if you can use my DNA to help find a criminal than use it. If you can use my DNA to try to solve cold cases, to help find the identities of Jon and Jane Does, and even to understand and potentially cure genetic diseases then please do. While I initially took the DNA test it was to piece together my heritage because my dad was adopted. But the potential is so much more than I even realized. Continue Reading →
