We have a big field/square across the street that has a splash pad in the summer (which is a skating rink in the winter), and huge video screens where they have movie nights.
But most often, they stream sporting events so people can gather and watch.
And while they usually draw a crowd, these World Cup games bring in shit tons of people, and it can be chaos.
I made the mistake of timing my errands today with the last 30 minutes of the Canada/South Africa game, and it was insane trying to get to where I needed to go by foot.
I really should have planned better. The Canada Day events are going to be wild over there on Wednesday as well.
But the weather with the humidex is supposed to hit mid-40s, and I definitely will be avoiding it like the plague.
I am hoping that it rains that night too, so the fireworks get cancelled. I hate fireworks and how triggering they are to animals and some people.
Completely unnecessary bullshit.
On a positive note, Spirit Halloween is supposed to open up back in the area this summer.
Last year, the location they normally go in, had a business in it, but that business is no longer open. Surprise, surprise. I saw that coming a mile away.
And now the Spirit website shows that it is one of the locations because there are job listings for it, so I am pretty excited. I missed it.
It’s the small things, my friends.
Currently also avoiding going into Zara because of the sale. I get anxiety just walking past it.
As someone who worked retail for many years, I can only imagine what this several-week-long sale is like in there.
And don’t even get me started on the cleaning up. The people who shop it behave like heathens. I’d want to cry.
So it is safe to say that I didn’t buy anything from it, nor the online version either. Mainly because I am broke and trying to gather the last $100 I need for rent.
Actually, it is $57, but $100 would give some wiggle room. I can’t believe I am at the broke point to where I am trying to find $57. Life sucks.
It felt like this month went by ridiculously fast, too, which doesn’t seem to help.
Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing what stores are going to start to get in for fall for some inspiration, although I will say that this blouse caught my eye.
It gives me Victorian or Edwardian era vibes with its high frilled collar, voluminous puff sleeves, and pleated detailing.
It’s lovely, and it’s 10% cotton.
