Once again I am feeling more inclined to post spring outfits than spring capsule wardrobe this week. I am in the mindset of working through my closet to see what kind of spring outfits I can make that I can also transition to summer.
It’s been so back and forth with the weather that I can’t even pack my winter coat away yet. Although today is beautiful, and it is heating up my apartment to an uncomfortable level.
It is also helping to see what kind of things that I may want to add to my spring wardrobe this season.
I just bought this blouse from Zara. I love wrap shirts and this one is light and airy, and 100% cotton which is perfect for the warmer weather.
We just went into Stay At Home Orders: Lockdown 3 for “4 weeks” last night at midnight. I put 4 weeks in quotes because they keep saying 4 weeks then extend it. It is very reminiscent of last April but with a little less panic.
I’m not one to buy a lot of new things each season, and now that we are locked down again for who knows how long I don’t want to waste money on things that I won’t be able to wear.
I literally just went through Merle’s clothes and had to get rid of so many things that still had tags on them. I bought her a small collection of clothes for spring last year and then shit hit the fan and she never got to wear them before she grew out of them.
So I am trying to avoid that this year.
I have put together 12 outfits based on a few of my favourite spring and summer pieces. I hope you enjoy.
Outfits 1 and 2: The Tan Trouser
A perfect staple for spring and summer is the tan trouser. I am a fan of a higher waist with a slightly tapered ankle otherwise know as the peg-leg trouser. I have this pair from Everlane that I wore a lot last year.
They checked the boxes that I was looking for in a trouser for warmer weather.
I do wish that they were a bit darker tan like these because they are more of a clay colour but still very much a neutral that works well with anything.
While I am not huge on crop tops that expose my abdomen, I do enjoy a cropped length shirt paired with a high waist trouser like this blue cropped sweatshirt.
I also wore the trousers with a lot of button-up shirts. Mostly linen, but cotton as well. Pair it with animal print and you can never go wrong.
Yes, animal print is a neutral.

Outfit 3 and 4: Skirts and Dresses with Sneakers
I don’t wear dresses or skirts a lot but when I do they are always mid to full length. I’ve just never been comfortable wearing anything above the knee so I avoid it.
I don’t currently have any spring or summer skirts and I really liked the look of this one. It is very Pretty Women-esque with its brown polka dots (so is this dress).
As for black linen dresses, I have the one I included in this post on the way from H&M.
I actually had a black lined shirt dress from Everlane but I wanted something longer so I sold it.
I don’t need multiple black linen dresses, especially since I will probably be wearing this one a ton if it fits the way that I hope.
The reviews said it fits large so I sized down. I know it is going to be really long, but with the loose fit and the side slits, I think it will be perfect. Definitely, a wardrobe staple that I will have for years.
I can’t wait to pair it with my New Balance 327 that I got. This model is also the 327 but in a different colour combo. It is a reissue of their retro 70s style.
And this reminds me that I haven’t seen my straw circle tote since we moved, which makes me wonder where I put it…

Sweater | Skirt | Loafer | Circle Bag | Linen Dress | Face Mask | Sneakers | Animal Print Circle Bag |
Outfit 5 and 6: The Statement Trouser
Nothing says confidence and style like a bold statement trouser. These have a giraffe print on them and are AMAZING.
Highwaist…check…wide leg…check…loose, breezy fit…check.
I think I would live in these. I really wish the Canadian shipping and returns for & Other Stories was easier for Canada because I really want to give these a try.
If you have them or get them please let me know how they are.
They are currently hanging out in my basket while I think about it.

Trousers | Orange Tee | Scarf | Basket Bag | Ankle-Tie Sandals | Knit Tank | Brown Jacket | Purse | Orange Sandals | Necklace |
Outfit 7 and 8: Workwear and the Co-ord Set
Whether you are working from home or the office, this outfit will be a comfortable look. The button-up is cotton, but you could also do a linen style for more casualness.
Linen isn’t ideal for work because of how much it wrinkles, but it is perfect for everyday wear.
Co-ords are very on-trend again this season. You can find them in so many different varieties, but I like the casual and comfortable vibe of this one.
It gives the impression of hanging out at home, then put on some cute sandals, earrings, and a cool bag and you are instantly looking ready to go out.

Blouse | Black Satin Trousers | Earrings | Black Flats | Animal Print Handbag | Brown Top | Brown Pants | Ankle Strap Sandals | Beaded Bag |
Outfit 9 and 10: The Leather Jacket
I know that my wardrobe is not complete without a leather jacket. I have both a fitted and oversized leather jacket know depending on the look I am going for.
The t-shirt dress and Converse combo is one of my go-to leather jacket looks of spring, summer, and fall. The all-black with a waist bag and fuzzy shoes is also a look that I would replicate…
I just need the fuzzy sandals first (which I want).

Leather Jacket | T-shirt Dress | Earrings | Red Striped Bag | Converse | T-shirt | Jeans | Belt Bag | Furry Sandals |
Outfit 11 and 12: For Denim Lovers
I am a denim lover. Very much so.
There isn’t a single season that I do not wear jeans.
Even in the depths of hell in the summer heat…which I am not looking forward to. At all.
I am also a jumpsuit lover so it is no wonder that I am intrigued by his denim jumpsuit from Madewell. Free People had an amazing wide-leg denim jumpsuit years ago and I have still yet to hunt one down.
I have one of those net bags but in yellow. I usually carry it along with my regular tote or crossbody as an extra bag to carry things home.
While I don’t have this quilted jacket, I do have this one that I bought years ago that still is one of my favourite tops ever.
While I wear is closed most often, it also looks good left open.
It sold out relatively quickly at Madewell, but I often see it on Poshmark and eBay.

Linen Tank | Quilted Jacket | Jeans | Necklace | Fringe Bag | Blue Slides | Denim Jumpsuit | Cropped T-shirt | Net Bag | Sandals | Lips Face Mask |
Stay safe.

i like the change in pace from doing a capsule wardrobe to showing us the different outfit ideas! i love all your choices for spring, but i despise the spring weather, lol. down here the pollen has been unbearable, not to mention the major swing in temperatures. linen seems to be the best bet so you’re neither overheated or too cold, but i agree, it can easily turn into a wrinkly disaster.
ugh, i’m sorry you’re plunged into another lockdown. a bit mad considering it hasn’t stopped people in the past lockdowns, but hopefully it has a better effect this time around.
I am not holding my breath that this lockdown will help. Its just the same things on repeat and they act like it’s a new plan.
The only difference this time is that big box stores that are still open will only give you access to the essential items. So if you need socks or underwear that area will be blocked off and the items won’t scan through.
It makes it tough for people who can’t afford to order online or don’t have a payment method for doing so.
It feels as if we are going to skip straight by spring again, so I might just dive into summer stuff.
…or Halloween since it’s 6 months to Halloween 😆
