Ignore the disaster that is my background :/ So much crap, so little room. While I miss Value Village because it is not open at the moment, I don’t miss the amount of home decor and miscellaneous yet awesome pieces we buy that we don’t have room for.

Speaking of not having room, we went to look at another condo today.

Same building but 10 floors up from ours, on the opposite side of the building, so a much better view.

It’s always really hard to tell when looking at real estate listings how big something is.

This unit photographed really small, but often they use the wide-angle lens that stretches and distorts to make things look bigger.

We were pleasantly surprised by this one.

The negative part is that people are still living in it which made me feel bad to walk through during a pandemic.

We masked and gloved ourselves up and one of the household members were there to answer questions and open things up for us so we didn’t have to walk around touching everything.

We made it super quick, but that’s all you really need when something is only about 800 sq ft.

The floors are way nicer than ours, and there is no carpeting in the bedrooms.

I hate the carpeting in the bedrooms here. It’s a really light colour and worn looking.

It feels like you are constantly vacuuming it or spot removing stains and it still looks terrible.

The kitchen was a little more beat than ours (the cabinets need paint or staining) but is an open concept which is what I want.

An open concept kitchen makes a small space feel bigger.

Two bathrooms which are key, as well as both bedrooms, being larger with a much better layout.

The main part is that there is also a “den”. Which is a small, windowless room off of the kitchen.

It would make a great spot to put a lot of Tom’s stuff so I don’t have to live my life weaving in and out of guitar cases on the floor or banging my head on them hanging on the wall.

As well as a hopeful removal of the Star Wars and He-man from the living room.

It could also potentially be a small 3rd bedroom but I prefer the girls to have a room with a window.

Roo may appreciate it at some point though.

The only kicker is that it may not come with a storage locker, and that is a must for us. We have lived too long without one and decided that we require on with the next place.

I felt positive about it but since the tenants are currently still residing I assume that they will be there for another 60 or so days since it was just listed and 60 days notice is what is required here.

I would like to move sooner rather than later, especially now that I am living with leaky floors from what I still think is the dishwasher that has yet to be repaired.

If we could grab a unit now, then we would have two months to move stuff. Ideally, we’d get it done quicker but that was the idea.

Then they could get in here, fix it up and get it on the market again with a quicker turnaround.

Better for both of us.

Do you know what would suck? If our current landlords also were the landlords to that unit :/ That would be my luck when I was applying.

And beacsue we will have two bathrooms, we will aslo need another/new shower curtain.

My current one is 7 years old and is starting to tear at the the hem and around the shower curtain ring holes.

In my search, I came across a really cool design that I found on Society 6. Society 6 is a company that allows artists to upload their design to be printed on various types of merchandise.

Things like duvet covers, pillows, phones cases, tote bags, water bottles, wall prints, and shower curtains.

I put up a poll because I couldn’t decide which one I like better between two. I wish that I could make on that incorporated elements from both, but since that isn’t possible the winner was this one, which I ordered.

Tom’s favourite Universal Monsters are the Wolfman and Creature from the Black Lagoon so I shouldn’t have even thought about it. Although I do like the Plague doctor in the other one.

Now I need some pink towels…

Stay safe.

  1. i had to laugh about your description of the carpet color, i feel like that is a universal decorating touch to all apartments lol. it’s almost like they choose that particular color because they know they can ding people for having to clean it after their lease is up. fingers crossed that the unit comes with a storage locker, it sounds like it ticks all the boxes otherwise! hopefully you’ll hear back soon, i know how annoying it is to get all the paperwork rushed through to only have the other party dragging their feet processing everything.

    • Ugh. Right?! I hate carpeting so much but it’s really hard to find a unit without at least the bedrooms carpeted. Unfortunately the one we saw now appears to be off the market. People/real estate move so bloody fast here regardless if it’s to buy it rent. We are going to look at two more today and they have a lot of really big windows, so that would be nice. They are only about a block from where we are right now which is perfect because I like this area. I hope we can get this shit figured out because it’s such a hassle.
