I went into Sephora today. I feel like that statement should be followed by some ominous-sounding music because I don’t like going in there, and I avoid it like the plague.
But, it is really close by, and it is one of those situations where you run out of several things all at the same time, which is both annoying and expensive.
And when it comes to buying things for myself, I get tremendous guilt and will usually find a reason not to buy them.
So I had to have a bit of a come-to-Jesus moment with myself in regard to this because I don’t get my hair done, or get manicures or pedicures. I don’t do massages, facials, fillers, or other facial enhancements.
So I basically said,”Buy the fucking lipstick Sara.” and I went in.
Which I obviously regretted immediately, but Sephora seems to be the only place that I can get this specific brand besides ordering online.
I do wear makeup every day because I look tired and ill if I do not. Plus, I suffer from 90s overplucked eyebrows, and I need to fill that shit in.
I ran out of my concealer that makes me look way less eye baggy, and this time, since I bought it in-store, I was able to find the right colour. Last time I went a shade too light.
My top lip is uneven.
I wasn’t something that I really noticed when I was younger, so I don’t know if it is getting more noticeable as I age, or if we noticed our perceived “flaws” less back then, since we didn’t live in a world of social media perfection.
So I tend to use this liner to even up my cupid’s bow because it works well and the neutral beige colour matches my natural lip colour perfectly.
Then I do a quick layer of this tint in the poppy, which gives me a more polished look without much effort.
It is buildable, so I can make it more intense depending on my mood, which works well because I am a red lip girl at heart, but I don’t like wearing a full red lip for no reason.
This gives me a light orangey-red lip so I can get the vibe without having to go all in.
It also works as a blush, which I use in a pinch if I am looking a little pale, but my regular blush is more of a pink base and my preferred colour.
Plus, I love the application of this one in the colour “Lovely”, which keeps me flushed looking without wearing off too quickly. I have really oily skin, so reapplication is a necessity for most products.
So yeah, I ventured into my least favourite place to go shop so I could pick up the items that I currently use to make myself feel better.
Now, hopefully, I am set for a little while, even though I can feel my foundation bottle getting lighter.
Sigh. It never ends.
Tomorrow is going to be a hot one, and the air conditioning was supposed to go on this past Friday, but it is “under repair” until further notice.
So tomorrow will probably be a satin Bermuda shorts kind of day, even though I am going to be tempted to just lie down in front of the fan and not move.
I must go prepare myself for the misery of what tomorrow will bring.
