This is where you get to see the two plaid shirts I have been banging on about because I am so happy with this purchase. I am actually quite bummned that we don’t have the green version in Canada (yet, maybe?) because I absolutely will grab that one too if/when we do.
A truly great flannel. I am wearing the men’s medium for an idea of how it fits.
They feel thrifted with their softness and fading, but I have been looking secondhand for about six months and have yet to find any that I love.
Once upon a time, flannels were a dime a dozen at the thrift store. Now, not so much.
Currently, my older cat is in a time-out in the bathroom for being nefarious and almost knocking the tv down like four times (he’s a very big boy).
And I can hear him twanging the coil door stop because he is mad. He needs to be in there for at least 15 minutes to give him time to forget that he wants to get behind the tv.
I hibernated this weekend because the windchill was so cold. Plus, I hate weekend busyness so I am still in the same pyjamas as yesterday. I will get dressed tomorrow because I have to go to the post office.
Someone was talking about the last winter we had, which was this cold was in 2016, and it was followed by the hottest summer ever, so I am not looking forward to that if that is the way it is going to trend.
I have an urge to go to Winners and see if there are any other animals as human wall art, even though I have two that I haven’t found room to hang yet, just sitting here.
I was checking out Zara’s new stock tongiht and is it just me, or is fast fashion pricing getting to be ridiculous for some things? I get that this is a nice-looking leather bomber, but $500 at Zara? That is insane.
I can find one like that secondhand. The worst part is that it will sell out fast as soon as it comes fully in stock.
So I guess people are willing to pay those prices, which is why they are doing it. And that money isn’t going to the people making the clothes either. Remember that.
May this week be uneventful in a good way.

Since you like art of animals dressed as people, I feel like you will appreciate this. At Powderham Castle in Devon there is a mosaic of a tortoise in military dress. There is an actual history behind this picture. Her name was Timothy (yes, you read that correctly, and I will get to that). She was a real tortoise who snuck onto a British naval ship during the Crimean War. And then became an unofficial member of the crew. They named her Timothy, and after the ware she went to live at Powderham.
At some point in the 1920s they tried to mate her with another female tortoise and that is how they discovered she was female. Turns out that during the Crimean War they didn’t know how to determine the sex of tortoises.
Anyway, she passed away of old age in 2004. It was believed she hatched in what is now Turkey during the Ottoman Empire. She was officially the last survivor of the Crimean War.
I love this story and her name. I also love the fact that they had an “unofficial” crew member that was unknowingly female during a time everyone hated females on board. So yay for Timothy!
