And I am back for my first wardrobe roundup of the year. I was actually doing some thinking about what my best purchases of 2025 were, and I would have to say the vintage Junya Watanabe tweed jacket in outfit one was, hands down.
That was kind of a spontaneous purchase without a ton of thought, which is against my ethos.
But I also say go with the initial gut feeling, and when I saw that it was a “holy shit, that is mine” sort of feeling.
Since it was secondhand on consignment shop, it didn’t leave much room for stepping back and thinking about it because it would have sold really fast.
I literally spotted it within minutes of it being listed in the new arrivals. I just happened to be looking when I saw it uploaded as new, so the world was telling me it was meant to be.
So yeah, that was my best purchase. Second? Maybe my red vintage boots. Third? The Arthur Apparel long multi-plaid coat (now sold out). I have worn that A LOT since I got it.
So much so that I need to get my thread out to reinforce one of the buttons because it was super windy the other day, and the wind kept trying to turn me into a kite, so there was a lot of tension on the buttons, and one loosened a lot.
Anyway, I am happy to see that 2/3 of my favourite purchases were secondhand.
Apparently, Mother Nature is going to dump a pile of snow on us tomorrow.
At least according to the weather warning notification that popped up on my phone, and I have to venture out in the morning, so that will be fun.
Anyway, I have to go move some furniture before I ignore it for another day.
But before I head off, I wanted to mention that the red boots that I was talking about are from Vestiaire, and I know that many of you have never shopped there or aren’t really sure how it works.
The one tip that I have, which will save you money on certain fees, is for you to narrow your search down to your country of origin.
Yes, it will give you fewer options, but you can bypass sending the item to be authenticated if you want.
There have been several purchases where authentication wasn’t necessary, and I would have loved to have been able to opt out. So doing that can usually give you the direct shipping option instead.
I have never been disappointed by a purchase from there. And that is it.
I am not even going to say have a great first week of January because I am not deluded, so just take care and hope for the best.
