Weekly Secondhand Finds (Vol. LXI)

a collage of different types of women's clothing and accessories. All vintage or secondhand.

The world is pretty universally messed up right now, and I took this week to try and find selections that deviated from the direction that western fashion normally goes during this time.

When things are bad, it has always defaulted to muted, sombre, minimal, quiet styles that just completely lack in colour or print.

And since we are also in the throes of winter, where many experience the doldrums, I thought it would be nice to find some colourful, bold, statement pieces to inject some fun when we are feeling anything but.

I usually end with my favourite piece, but this week I decided I would start off with it. I don’t think I have ever been as sad that something wasn’t in my size as I was about these boots.

These are bloody amazing.

The print, the colour, the aggressive square toe. I searched and searched after for another pair and came up with nothing.

So whoever gets these, I am envious.

There is something so perfect about these Prada mules. Seriously.

The colour, the kitten heel. These look like something that Carolyn Bessette would have worn.

Next, I have two bags.

The first caught my eye beacsue of the soft butter yellow, and flowers etched into it. It is very delicate and spring-like.

The secondhand is so right up my alley.

The cobalt blue animal print, pony hair, and leather harness is like the trifecta of what I love.

Yes, there is a bit of wear to the back side pony hair, but that is not a deal breaker for me.

I love a bag that shows some wear. It proves that you use it just like it is meant to be used.

Another Furla bag but with a croc embossed print.

I really like the fan shape of this one because it reminds me of the Lacoste Lenglen bag minus the skirt pleats.

Last week I included a denim jacket similar to this, and it sold in minutes, so I sought out another one this week.

This one is Isabel Marant, and I always love the 80s vibe to the Isabel Marant denim jackets.

I have been thinking about getting a short animal print coat like this one. Something that will just hit the waist to have a fun option besides my full-length versions.

So, when I saw this Y2K version, I thought I would share it.

I adore the asian frog button closures like on this 100% linen shirt. What a great spring piece in a natural and breathable material.

Always on the search for vintage Ralph Lauren, and while it is usually sweaters that I seek sometimes I find perfect jackets like this one for a reasonable price.

Sometimes people sell vintage Ralph Lauren for absolutely ridiculous prices, so it is nice to see something that isn’t hundreds of dollars.

Plus, there is room to negotiate.

This vintage tailcoat was one that was in the running when I was searching. It was actually in first place until I found the one that I bought on Poshmark, and the seller offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse.

It will be a fun spring jacket.

Sometimes you just need a really amazing, vibrant blazer.

This one is by Moschino, and the colours and print are perfect. Just pair it with jeans and a white tee, and it would look amazing.

What is this spide,r you may ask? He is an 1930/40s art deco brooch, and I love him.

I always really love a bug brooch, but this one is so bloody cute.

I have been thinking about riding pan,ts and I am not sure why.

But I do know that they would be such an interesting item to wear in a non-preppy way. Something completely different from how you expect them to be worn.

When I look for vintage leather jackets a great patina is one of the elements that I seek, and this bomber jacket has a great patina.

Next, I have an awesome leather jacket that sucked me in with the arm straps.

Buckles and straps on my leather jackets are also elements that I look for, and this one is pretty fab.

And lastly I have this vintage 90s tunic top.

They advertise it as a mini dress, but with the slits, I would wear it as a top. I love the pinstripes and the minimalist look to it.

I know I said no subdued minimalism today, but if I paired it with that cobalt animal print bag that would bring in the vibrancy that I talked about.

That is it for this week.

It was nice to have a bit of an escape to pull me away from doomscrolling this week.

Now I am going to sit and be sad about those boots again.
