I had to resort to several change room outfit selfies the past week because I was running around so much that I neglected to get any at home.

The one with the jacket was deliberate because I went specifically to see if they had that coat. I saw it online and couldn’t stop thinking about it.

They did have it, and I love it. The colour and the fit are fabulous, and I think it would make a really great early fall coat for many climates.

As for sizing, I explained in the Instagram post that I find Gap sizing to be weird for me.

Typically, I wear a medium on top in most brands, but with Gap, I often find that I need to go a size smaller.

With this jacket, I went with the medium, because I like it a bit roomier. In the fall, I need to make sure there is room to layer while still being able to move comfortably.

I was debating it for my birthday, but went another direction which I will talk about when/if it arrives. Although, I might come back for it when they have a sale going on.

Which seems like every weekend at the moment.

It is also interesting to point out that I have not bought anything from Zara for a long while.

We may have differing ideas of what a long while is, but for me, someone who often orders something at least on a biweekly basis (although I return 99% of it), it is a big deal.

And it isn’t like I don’t want to, but I am trying to be much more thoughtful than usual with purchases.

I really like their new suede pieces, but for what is supposed to be a fast fashion retailer, they are charging premium prices and I am not paying that much.

That means I am searching the secondhand market instead, which is actually a better choice for me.

I have a couple of key pieces that I am trying to find for myself, and one that already arrived is not a disappointment.

It is an olive green suede 90s jacket that I found on Poshmark.

I was a little concerned because it was taking a while for them to ship, and honestly, I have been having bad luck with sellers not shipping and/or cancelling orders lately, so I was being a little pessimistic.

But it arrived Friday and I am thrilled with it. These are the types of pieces that I am looking for to round out my fall wardrobe.

And it was only a fraction of the cost of the Zara jackets.

So saving money while keeping fashion circular.

I found a few that some of you might like if you are looking for a green jacket, coat, or blazer.

This one is a size 4 and it is beautiful.

I really like the cut of this one, as well as the pockets.

A Banana Republic jacket in an 8.

This one has a fun lining, size medium.

This one is awesome. It has a military/bad jacket feel. The size says 1x, but I don’t feel it is, so check out the measurements.

And lastly, I love the simplicity of this one.

Chances are that the piece you are obsessing over in a store already exists out there somewhere; you just need to find it.
