Does anyone else think that Substack should have an open subscription option where you would pay a certain amount per month to read a specific number of Substack articles?

An option that isn’t tied to particular publishers but if you used one of your monthly allotments to read an article by them, they would get a percentage of the monthly fee you paid.

Does that make sense?

I just find that there are a lot of articles that I want to read on Substack but they are paywalled and there is no way that I am subscribing to a new publisher every day in order to read the one article I am interested in.

I can’t afford to subscribe to 15+ different substack accounts per month, but I could afford to pay a monthly fee that would give me access to 10-15 articles a month from a variety of publishers.

It seems like a no-brainer to me, but I don’t know what the logistics would be to make certain everyone got paid accordingly.

That is my big thought of the day.

In case you missed it I posted volume VIII of my secondhand finds this week, and an eclectic minimalist capsule wardrobe for spring yesterday.

  1. I 100% agree with the substack subscription suggestion, I would even pay for a premium subscription where I get more articles, I just can’t add one more individual subscription, it drives me mad.

    • I’m so glad someone agrees with me! These individual subscriptions for every single aspect of life are way too much, so 30 separate Substacks is just not realistic. I wonder if they’ll implement this once subscriptions start to wane? Which they will in the current state of the world.
