This past week has been the week that winter has decided to visit. It’s been cold, snowy, and quite windy at times which can make walking out and about miserable if you aren’t dressed properly.

I went out in a snowstorm a few days ago and decided that I need a little bit of a winter accessory overall for myself.

Coats and footwear? I am okay in that department. Hats, gloves, and scarves? Not so much.

I have actually had the same beanie for probably 10 years now, and it was one that I stole from my husband who had it for a while before that.

So it was time to reevaluate what I had, and what I truly needed to bring in. During the Aritzia Black Friday sale, I grabbed a cashmere triangle scarf in black.

I have got a lot of use out of that so far, and I really like the different ways you can wear it compared to a traditional scarf. I also bought some cashmere gloves from Uniqlo during their sale. I bought the dark brownish-burgundy colour.

For my headwear, I decided that I might give a knitted/hood balaclava a try. They are the rage right now and honestly, they are really practical.

It’s not always about looking cute, but I do like how the one I ordered looks like you have pulled up your hood from a sweater.

I figure that you can just slide it down and wear it around your neck almost like you would if it was an actual hood instead of removing it completely like you do a beanie.

Which will cut down the panic every time I try to dig in my bag to grab my hat and think that I lost it.

Since the sale was still on at Aritizia I decided to go for this one. That, and because it is made from fibres other than acrylic or nylon which is what a lot of them are made from unfortunately.

I was going to get black to match the scarf but I went with the charcoal because I really like the way grey and brown/camel go together like the colour of my winter coat.

I am one of those people who have to convince myself that it is okay to get a new winter hat (or whatever you need) instead of spending the money on someone else.

So yeah, I figured it was time to invest in some better accessories for winter since I am walking out in bad weather a lot.

My beanie was in dire need of an upgrade anyway.

It served me well, and owes me nothing.
