Weekly Secondhand Finds V

a collage of different types of women's clothing and accessories. All vintage or secondhand.

I was actually going to not post for the rest of the week but I have a folder sitting here with my most recent finds that I know some will be sold out by next week, so I figured why not put a post together.

There is still the wrapping to do, but I generally procrastinate until the last possible minute because I am a terrible present wrapper.

I also made the big mistake of going to the grocery store today because I hadn’t planned for Christmas dinner yet. Big yikes on the one, because my nearby grocery store is located in a mall that I have to walk through to get there.

And it was the nightmare on earth. I am certain I was exposed to the coughing and sneezing germs of about 40 people so fingers crossed I don’t catch anything.

I knew it was going to be busy, but to this extent, I could not predict.

When I worked in retail I don’t remember it ever being this bad, and the 24th was always really quiet. I will not venture out to see if it still is tomorrow. Boxing Day was another story though.

Anyway, I bought some dinner to makeshift a meal and call it a day. Onward to this week’s secondhand finds.

Vintage Blazer | Vtg Max Mara Coat

Starting with this magnificent green plaid vintage blazer. The colours are so unlike what you normally see, with a floral lining it is perfect for spring.

Then a Max Mara vintage coat. If you are in need of a winter coat Max Mara is always on the top of the list of recommendations but they are way out of my budget.

Although, if you really look you can often find them used or vintage for much less and somewhat affordable.

This coat is navy blue and a wool and cashmere blend. It is a US 12 but will fit a variety of sizes depending on how you want it to fit. What a timeless piece.

KJL Snake Brooch | Celine Sunglasses

I like snakes a lot, they have never really creeped me out. I respect them. I always laugh when I hear the Adam and Eve Bible story of her and the snake because I too would absolutely listen to a snake if it came up and talked to me.

It would probably be the best day of my life to have a conversation with an animal so no judgment to Eve.

Actually, I would do anything an animal asked if it came up and talked to me.

So for my respect of snakes, I have a vintage crystal snake brooch. And a pair of Celine sunnies because I can’t pass them up when I see them. I think they are a wardrobe staple and I love the shape and thickness of these frames.

Miu Miu Boots | Khaite Ballet Flats

When I saw these boots I immediately added them to my cart before I realized they aren’t my size, so boo to that. I’m not usually into Western vibes but these have a badass energy and are vintage so I am sure they can tell you some stories.

A beautiful minimalist ballet flat from Khaite. What I love about these flats is that the toe actually looks like a ballet slipper instead of just being rounded or pointed. It is a shoe shape that I want in my wardrobe.

Vtg Prada Boots | Vtg 90s Miu Miu Mules

The animal print Prada boots are through auction so if you love an adrenaline-filled bidding competition, they will be fun to go after.

My eBay account is from the very beginning when eBay was only auctions.

I couldn’t tell you how many items I panicked and overbid for over the years in order to win in the last 60 seconds. I prefer Buy it Nows but occasionally I take my chances at an auction.

These square toe kitten heel mules are like the shoes of my dreams. I gasped when I saw them but dammit they are too big. That is what I get for having the most basic and average shoe size.

Celine Boogie Bag | Vtg Prada Handbag

Every time I come across a good Celine Boogie Bag I have to share it. I love the all black shiny leather with silver accents. It is very minimalist and yet has that moto/rock vibe.

The other bag is a vintage Prada that has Carolyn Bessette feel with its similarity to the Prada handbag that she always wore.

Both are great additions to any wardrobe it just depends if you would rather a handbag or shoulder bag.

Vtg Ralph Lauren Leather Jacket | Mid Length Suede Jacket

Two brown jackets for spring, two different vibes. First is a vintage Ralph Lauren that has that leather bomber-style jacket vibe. A touch of masculine which will pair well with spring florals, or silk and satin pants.

Then we have a chocolate brown blazer-esque but in a midi length which is a nice change. I like a butt-covering jacket.

It has that 90s minimalist feel but also something that would have been worn at Chloe with a flowy boho outfit.

Sportmax Wool Peplum Zip | Alexander McQueen Peplum Cardigan

It is like the battle of the peplums. First is a Sportmax wool zip-up that is both sporty and edgy. It has that Adidas track jacket feel but it elevated and dressier because it is black, wool, and has a pleated peplum.

I think this would be very flattering in a cinch and flare kind of way.

The next piece is currently in my basket. Alexander McQueen is one of my forever online searches.

I am always on the lookout for pieces and his peplum leather jacket has been on my wishlist for YEARS.

This cardigan is silk and wool in a vibrant reddish-orange. The little peplum is what sucked me in. How cute would this be in the spring with some cuffed jeans and flats?

Vtg Bakelite Set | Vtg YSL Loafers

I am a huge sucker for Bakelite, especially in this green colour so I was pretty excited to see the full earrings and bracelet set. These types of sets are usually broken up over the years and sold separately.

I could spend hours scrolling through Bakelite jewellery.

If you are in the mood for something slightly witchy, these heeled loafers in a lush burgundy might be right up your alley. The heel isn’t too high, and they look to be in great vintage condition with the box included.

These paired with cropped trousers, frilly socks, a flouncy blouse, and a little cropped jacket for spring.

Can you envision it?

That’s all for this week. Happy Holidays everyone.

  1. Oh I hope you don’t wind up getting sick! I’ve been sick for a couple of weeks and am only just now getting over it. It wasn’t too bad for the most part, but took so long to get over. And also after a particularly rough bout of bronchitis several years ago I wind up throwing up at least once every time I get the slightest cold. I managed to force myself to go see the Christmas lights at our local castle the weekend before last, mostly because I paid extra for the afternoon tea experience and it was the last day they were doing it so I couldn’t change the booking. We were planning to go the holiday event at a local them park on Sunday but after having to stop and barf while picking up the kiddo from school on Friday I wasn’t willing to risk it.

Anyway, I am a sucker for snake jewelry even though I am a bit scared of them. Growing up around stuff like copperheads will put the respectful fear into you, hahaha! I did briefly have a pet python in high school but quickly realized I couldn’t bring myself to feed him mice, so he became my mom’s python. He was very cute though, I swear he had puppy dog eyes. I think he lived about 15 years or so. His name was Monty. I just couldn’t resist the pun.

    • So far so good. I think I might be in the clear fingers crossed. I’m sorry you were sick for so long. It’s a horrible time of year because there’s so much to do and you get worn out quickly that it makes it harder to shake a sickness.

I had a close friend with a beautiful snake named orange. He was really sweet and liked to just chill with his people. Monty is a good name for a python 😂

I hope you feel better and had a good Christmas. – Sara.

  2. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your posts. I have been following along for about 5 or 6 years and have gotten inspiration from your travel wardrobes. I especially love how you mix in pattern and color. I often gravitate to neutrals, but long for the colorful elements. I’m inspired to add a few of my favorite colors into the mx. And perhaps some unexpected shapes as well. Thanks!

    • Thanks so much Angela! I appreciate it. Good luck with embracing some colours and shapes. It’s a game changer with growing your style and honing your wardrobe. – Sara
