I can officially say that I have completed Christmas shopping in its entirety. There will be no last-minute running out to grab a few things, or one last present to make it even. I am done, except for the one item that is stuck in the mail and probably won’t arrive on time even if the mail strike stops this week.

But after Christmas gifts are fun too.

I’ll just print out an image of the gift and wrap it, they always get a kick out of that and for some reason keep the printout.

I spent the day deep cleaning.

This is where I admit that I don’t own a mop. I do all my floor washing with a bucket and on my hands and knees.

I do own a Swiffer which is good for quick cleans, but when I really want to get in there and scrub the floor I do it old school.

It is small in here so it is doable, but I cleaned a lot of floors today and my arms are sore and I smell like floor cleaner.

Tomorrow I want to reorganize my sweaters, shoes, and bags because they are looking a little bit chaotic. It’s like an early spring cleaning in here.

And I just remembered that I need one more roll of wrapping paper and tape, so I guess I am not 100% done. My youngest “borrowed” the present tape to stick things on her walls and returned it empty.

She has always had a thing for using a lot of tape, so much so that I gave her some in her stocking a few years back. She’d probably benefit from some this year because her walls are starting to look like mine did in the 90s.

Posters, drawings, and magazine cutouts are everywhere. Yes, we still read magazines. We get old ones from Value Village to look through and cut up. Lots of nostalgia there.

Speaking of, I haven’t been to a thrift store in a long while and I am due for a visit.

I just haven’t been in the mood, and was enjoying secondhand shopping online for very specific things instead, but the strike is limiting that since many people won’t ship here right now.

Maybe we’ll go thrifting later this week for something fun to do.

That being said, I didn’t buy myself anything new or secondhand this week. I’m trying to work with what I already have.

I’m still addicted to Lifesavers mints though.

  1. Merry Christmas! I hope you and yours are looking forward to a relaxing time. I too need to wash my floors. Any tips? My whole house has wood floors and I use to do them on my hands and knees. I use a stiffer type mop but I know that doesn’t get them super clean. I actually feel like they are never really clean with a dog under foot. What’s your technique? I know, I came by for the fashion and second hand goodies but hanging around for floor cleaning tips. 🙂 Ha ha

    • lol! I usually start either a really good sweep and then a vacuum of the baseboards and pulling out the furniture. Sometimes I’ll swiffer the front hall first where the shoes congregate from coming outside, especially in winter with the slush and wet. Then I fill the bucket with hot water and floor cleaner and get to work starting with behind the furniture. I let that dry, then move it back and do the rest. Sometimes after it’s all dry I’ll go back with just some hot water and wipe it down so the cats don’t get chemicals in their feet. We literally have no carpeting in here so I tend to break it down by room and spread it out versus doing everything at once. It’s only like 850 sq ft in here so it’s not a massive cleaning project unlike a full house with stairs and upper floors 😂 Merry Christmas! – Sara
