Weekly Secondhand Finds IV

a collage of different types of women's clothing and accessories. All vintage or secondhand.

I have come to the conclusion that these posts are one of my favourites of the week. It is exciting to share things with you that sparked a thrill in me while searching for vintage and secondhand items.

It’s like when I go into a thrift store and throw things in my cart, but know that I can’t buy it all and have to put some back.

But in this case, I share it here in case it sparks the same thrill in one of you.

It’s been a bit of a rough go for shopping here though since the postal strike started because a lot of sellers removed Canada from their shipping so I couldn’t buy anything.

But the strike is over today (for now) and business has resumed which means that hopefully some of my stuck in transit items that I bought before the strike actually make it to me.

Which is probably wishful thinking on my behalf because I probably won’t see those things for months due to backlog, and maybe not ever which sucks because one is a Christmas gift that I preordered in June.

The stuff that I found this week ranges from minimalist to maximalist, but each piece separately would work in the wardrobes of most people.

Here we go.

Escada Wrap Blouse | Vtg Moschino Blazer

If you have never searched vintage Escada I highly recommend you do so. It is one of my favourite brands to look for because can be minimalist, decadent, and everything in between.

This blouse has that touch of decadence that draws me in every time.

How can I pass up a blouse with panther heads on it?

This blazer has that “wear it for a dressy night out” look but because I am me and ask you to not save your clothes for special occasions, I would wear it anywhere and everywhere.

Yes, it can be dressed up, but I like to think how to wear it with a casual outfit. Like with a white tank, distressed vintage jeans, and black flats.

Minimalist Wrap Blouse | Vintage Leather Jacket

And because I love a minimalist piece, this Nanushka wrap blouse is simple and elegant, and would be perfect for spring and summer. The colour says blue, but it looks black to me. So if this is blue then it is a deep navy which is really nice too.

In my boho rock capsule post I talked about how “moto boho” was a spring trend and this burgundy cropped vintage jacket would be perfect.

It is a deviation from the traditional black moto making it a bit softer and so versatile.

Snake Print Blazer | 1980s Oscar de la Renta Jacket

Snake print is my thing right now. I had my eye on a Mulberry Bayswater bag in snake print at a consignment shop but it sold which bummed me out. This blazer is nice though, and you can’t go wrong with Emanuel Ungaro vintage.

There are some pretty incredible pieces out there if you can find them.

This green jacket is my favourite of the collection. It is from the 80s and by Oscar de la Renta. The price is on the higher end but damn, it is gorgeous.

Look how great it looks paired with simple basics on the mannequin. I think everyone needs at least one statement style jacket that you can wear the shit out of.

Vintage Earrings | Vtg Escada Belt

Accessories time. These earrings. Need I say more? They are 90s Oscar de la Renta and I can totally see them paired with a very 90s minimalist outfit.

Slick back your hair and let the earrings do the talking.

Escada isn’t just clothes, they do shoes and accessories as well and this belt is so interesting in its contrast. It is a classic suede belt but has the sweetness of cute strawberries spaced out along the length.

But the contrast comes in with the strawberry seeds being tiny crystals. It is like a touch of decadence.

Prada Bag | LOEWE Bag

Are these bags both brown? Yes but I get totally different vibes from them. We have a classic little Prada on the left, and the LOEWE Amazona in suede on the right. A brown bag is a wardrobe staple and either of these make a spectacular choice.

They both have the same eBay seller and it is one that I have personally bought from twice and had great experiences both times.

They are my go-to Japanese reseller.

Mansur Gavriel Ballet Flats | Gucci Oxfords

Any well-rounded wardrobe has a mixture of both masculine and feminine pieces which can be anything from clothing, to accessories or footwear.

Here I have some Mansur Gavriel minimalist flats in a perfect mid blue which are very feminine. Then I have some Gucci black leather oxfords with studded toes which have that masculine flare.

It is all about balance my friends, and you can make so many looks by mixing masculine and feminine pieces.

Gucci Large Tote | Alexander McQueen De Manta Clutch

To me, these bags are like opposites but equally important parts of a wardrobe. The left is a large black leather tote by Gucci that has a big horsebit accent.

The other is the De Manta clutch by Alexander McQueen, named after the manta ray because of it’s resemblance in shape.

I have a large De Manta clutch in shiny black leather that is one of my favourite pieces. It is my go-to fancy bag but I also use it just because.

Alexander McQueen is one of my favourite designers but not something that I can usually afford, even secondhand so when I saw the De Manta for a great price I grabbed it.

It had been sitting there a while and they slashed the price to sell.

I don’t understand how it was sitting there though. They come in all kinds of colours and materials…and prices. I suggest if you see one that you like, not to let it go too long because they tend to sell quickly now.

Check out this purple one.

Yves Saint Laurent Trench | Proenza Schouler Mules

I love an oversized trench coat and this is a men’s and its sizing is equivalent to a women’s large, so depending on how you like your fit, this might be a good option for you. It is a classic tan colour with epaulettes, and would be super easy to toss over your outfit spring for a nice, lightweight coat option.

Proenza Schouler always makes such interesting shaped shoes.

These mules are basically flats with the hint of a heel, and a very minimal shape and pointed toe which gives the illusion of it being a much larger heel than it is.

The strap goes behind your heel making these secure to walk in, because sometimes when I wear mules I will accidentally kick one off when I am walking which is no fun.

I did that to a pair of clogs a million years ago and ended up stepping off them awkwardly so my foot hit the back of the clog and I walked with a limp from a bruised instep for a week.

Well, guys, these are my finds for the week. I am not certain yet if I will have one next week since it is Christmas and literally no one would care because we will all be busy.

I guess it will depend on what I find this week.

Happy Holidays!
