During every fashion week, there is always that standout show that gets everyone excited and buzzing. For the fall/winter 2024 fashion season, it was the Chloé show which was the successful debut for Chemena Kamali.

Last week I talked about what fall trends I felt were worth paying attention to and one of them was Chloé.

It was because of this show that saw the merging of its iconic past with her future vision, that I decided I want to try and encapsulate that same vibe with this fall capsule wardrobe.

It was seamless perfection and had me looking forward to seeing how retailers would integrate it into everyday wear once it started to trickle down to the masses.

For reference, this is the new collection from Chloé. You can also view still images from the show here for outfit inspiration.

The season is just starting to transition in stores so it was somewhat difficult to find everything I was looking for, but in the end I *think* that I managed to pull it together.

It is an extraordinarily beautiful collection but is definitely not in a price range that I can do anything but dream about.

My goal was to take that concept and try to bring it down to not costing thousands of dollars per item, but also into wearable pieces that you can integrate into your own wardrobe.

Because ultimately none of us are realistically going to have an entire wardrobe trying to emulate Chloe from head to toe.

But we can take the elements of it that we love and introduce them into our wardrobes for a fun fall update.

First though, I had to break it down into what I thought were key characteristics and pieces of this collection.

What were the main elements of the Chloé Fall/Winter 24 show?

Let’s start off with the basics by talking about the colour palette.

The colour palette at the Chloé Fall/Winter 2024 show was a combination of soft, earthy tones, romantic hues, and dark dramatic depth.

We saw cream, nude, blush, dusty blue, sage green, and light grey for the lighter hues. Which gave a soft and romantic feel that tied the nostalgia.

We went mid-range with some caramel, rose, lavender, and mid grey which are earthy and feminine.

Then we finished with the deeper tones like burgundy, forest and olive greens, navy, chocolate brown, dark grey, and black.

These deeper, and more intense colours brought in a bit of drama and showed well in the more structured pieces like the leather, coats, jackets, and handbags.

Everything worked together so well that the whole show just flowed.

I have a ruffled rose-coloured, semi-sheer high neck (with a long tie) that’s vintage early 00s Chloé.

I am so glad that I bought it when I did because it is the perfect piece for me to be able to adopt this look.

Finding the right pieces for this was hard since we are still hanging on to summer, but I would say by the end of the month there will be an influx of Chloé-inspired items in stores.

You are already starting to see the lean towards ruffles, lace, suede, rivets, and leather. A very feminine 70s with some edge vibe.

So next I want to talk about specific pieces and characteristics that stood out for me and are great building blocks to get the inspired style.

A photo of an outfit of a dark brown henley shirt tucked into a caramel leather midi skirt, burgundy knee high boots, a grey Chloe Paraty bag, and a thick gold chain necklace.

First, we saw a lot of suede and leather. Many of these were in skirts in a midi to maxi length, but also in trousers and outerwear.

Let’s not forget the fringe as well.

Fitted shirts with deep Vs/keyholes, or fitted Henleys with the buttons left open and tucked into high waist skirts, trousers, and jeans.

Keep these in rich neutral colours or light pink or blue like the palette dictates. You can find an abundance of leather and suede skirts on the secondhand market.

Just pay attention to measurements versus size numbers since vintage can often skew small with fit.

We are seeing a lean towards slimmer pants, flares and bootleg alongside the more familiar looser fits from recent seasons.

It’s nice to have a variety of pants styles in play at the same time.

As knee-high and over the knee boot styles are coming back, a slimmer leg is perfect for pairing with these styles since they are easier to tuck.

The fitted military style and utility jackets in a variety of fabrics are also key. Chloe had some very beautiful leather versions which we can also see out in secondhand markets if we are lucky.

Try an olive green, chocolate brown or burgundy leather for variety. This season is about leather in pieces from head to toe. One thing for certain is that we are going way beyond the jacket.

Capes. Yes, I love them and I am excited, and we are going to see various iterations of capes on the markets. But also coats with built in scarves, and very wide, long and loose fits.

In this look I have a looser and shorter fit trench that has a cape-like shape, but also has a built-in (removable) scarf.

This sweater also has button details on the underarms so that you can leave it open giving it a cape vibe as well.

Flare leg and a strong bootleg denim are also in. Fitted through the hips and legs, with a gentle to more aggressive flair depending on your preference.

These flairs will pair nicely with the clogs. There was also a noticeable edge to some of the shoes and accessories with rivets and large buckles being used. It’s like the use of heavy metals to balance the flowy romantic feel.

The bag I included is an older Chloé bag called the Paddington. This one is stunning.

Semi-sheer, high neck, flowy, lace, and long ties are all elements that were prevalent in the show.

But along with the slimmer leg and flares we also saw the relaxed trouser again.

Pair it with edgier boots for a juxtaposed look.

The belt in this look is reversible so you get two colours for one.

The bag is the Chloé Paraty which they reissued for the 2024 season in a slimmer shape, but the secondhand market is full of older Paraty bags in a huge selection of colours.

I really love the bags in orangey-caramel, navy blue, and grey.

One of the last notable characteristics that you can look for is ruffles, and loose fitting drapey style tops like this.

I found a mini dress on the UK Anthropolgie site that would work perfectly as a tunic top in Chloé style.

For jewellery, there are a lot of thick gold bands, chains, and choker-style necklaces over the top of the high neck. There was also some longer pendant styles, as well as a busier and chunkier peices.

For a truly authentic one, you can get a vintage snake necklace to wrap around like what was worn in many of the outfits.

Overall, this collection was like a nod to their original 1970s French-girl style but with a modern update.

This show resonated from those of us who have nostalgia from 2000s boho, to Gen Z’s who get to experience it for the first time.

There is something for everyone and it translates well to the masses. I hope you enjoyed my interpretation of the collection.
