Apparently, the weather has decided that it wants to shift from spring to early summer rapidly this year, which has me quite terrified about how horrendous the summer is going to be.

There are supposed to be several days of over 18°C this week which is about where my heat tolerance level starts to tip. Anything over and it starts to get uncomfortable fast.

I had to drop off some Poshmark sales at the post office today by foot and I was sweating by the time I arrived.

Which makes me happy that I am being proactive and have started trying to sort my summer wardrobe. I feel like this summer might be a doozy.

I found a really long blue poplin shirt dress on Poshmark and it’s basically what I have been searching for.

The sides go up a bit higher than I like but it is definitely not like the high slits in some dresses so entirely doable for me. Sometimes secondhand can’t check every box.

On the opposite end, I tried on a slip dress and Oak + Fort and it looked horrendous.

I get the whole fuck flattering thing but when something looks bad you tend to feel bad which defeats the purpose of enjoying your clothes and feeling good in what you wear.

I *think* it was an attempt to make it appear like it was a biased cut dress, but isn’t. It didn’t drape the body but had weird bunches of what felt like too much fabric.

It wasn’t the size, it was the cut because when I saw it on the mannequin in the window I noticed the same bunching across the abdomen…which is obviously not a spot that most people want to highlight.

So my search for a slip dress continues. It would actually be awesome to find something vintage but so far I am striking out.

I did find some vintage Levi’s 505s on Etsy last week that were only $18! That price is almost on par if not less than many thrift stores at the moment so of course I grabbed them.

The photos were a little hard to tell the exact wash because the lighting was crap but holy shit they are perfect. It’s like how you envision the ultimate worn-in pair and I am so stoked.

Sometimes you need to take a gamble, especially when it comes to buying vintage online.

So my summer wardrobe with a focus on secondhand pieces seems to be slowly coming around.

Onwards to the new week.

  1. Funny you should say that about O & F – I stopped shopping there because of their cheap/lazy cutting, eg. entire dresses cut from 2 pieces rather than separate sleeves, no attention to lay out, etc… I hope you find your perfect slip dress!

    • Right?! Yesterday I saw a Canadian influencer promoting the Oak + Fort cardigan scarf which was basically a cardigan cut in half to drape over your shoulders. It’s supposed to be a “lightweight” way to get the same effect as a cardigan without the actual sweater. It was really weird and seems like a cash grab from pieces that are kicking around. An actual cardigan over your shoulders isn’t going to be heavy, plus you can wear it if you get cold 😂 so ridiculous.
